obstacle: the rope bridge
There was no time to waste.
The tension within him was stretched tight, gathering with it all of his energy and determination to surge into a single purpose- the platform. So much so that even the sound of a pin dropping would have sufficed to push himself forward, but the organizers were far more generous. A shrill blast reverberated through the cool air, and the leaf strewn dirt path was abandoned in his wake, nimble feet easily cutting a clean break from the starting line.
Whether Nami could catch up or otherwise was irrelevant- their priority at the given moment was securing their weapons and supplies.
He’d hooked his arm through the straps of both backpacks, and seized their allocated satchel of weapons for good measure.
That was the only warning he gave her before tossing both items her way- the backpack first, and after a moment, the satchel.
Now what needed to be done was to place as much as distance between themselves as possible from the rest of the contestants. They couldn’t slow down now, not when a good lot of the aforementioned appeared shady at best. He wouldn’t put it past them to try and sabotage the progress of opposing teams.
