It’s been a comfort-needing sort of week; I’ve been ill, work is lame, and people are just awful. So, while I’m in bed, Evils nearby, kitty snuggling, socks on, and eating some grilled cheese and spicy tomato soup, I list you: some of Kiana’s go-to comfort/favorite fanfics!

Title: Braids

  This fic. This hits so many of my happy places: angst, misunderstands, fix-it fic, happy ending, smut. It has been my go-to for so many years, and I can still read it and happy sigh.

  (Also: I randomly just found a place where @xanitoast and I were rereading this fic and being happy -- on 11 Sept 2005. Oh, eljay.)

Rec: The Big Bang Theory, Penny/Sheldon, PG-13

Title: Apocalypse Week

Summary: Sheldon Cooper is crazy, but also kind of made of awesomeness. Or at least that's how Howard puts it. Penny thinks there's a possibility he's made of sexy, and really, the world must be ending if she has to suppress wayward urges to kiss him.

Sheldon, however, would explain it a different way: "Apocalypse Week is a series of training exercises, skirmishes, and aptitude tests based on survival simulations for various apocalyptical events. It serves to debunk a number of myths perpetrated by Hollywood and popular culture and to ensure personal survival scenarios are reliable and well-practiced."

  This is probably my favorite Big Bang Theory fic out there (and there are a LOT of good ones). I just love everything about this, from the characterization to the plot to the way the romance between Penny and Sheldon is handled. I can read this fic over and over.   In fact, I'm going to re-read it tomorrow - now that I found the link (I somehow lost my bookmark to this and was quite put out! I'd be pretty sad if I never was able to read this again.) I feel as though I'm not doing the fic justice, and that's because it's just too damn good that no matter what I say, it's not quite enough.

Rec: Supernatural, Castiel/Dean, NC-17

Title: The Path of Fireflies

Summary: After his humanity is restored, Dean wakes up in bed with Castiel, a wedding ring, and no memory of the past twelve years.

  This is the "newest" fic in this rec list, but it's well deserved. I read it one day because I was looking for a long Dean/Cas fic to get me through a pre-holiday, very long day at work. It sounded okay, although there seemed to be some elements that aren't usually my thing.

I am so, SO glad I was so, so wrong. This is an amazing fic, well written, and just dhbjshbjhbhs. Keyboard mash worthy, even. It takes what could be just another trope is someone else's hands/story and keeps you hanging on to every word, feeling for the characters and the ache is so perfect.

Title: A Winter Walk

Warm and cold and happy and sad and gorgeous and LOVELY. I want to hug this fic and wrap it in a wooly sweater, feed it a cuppa, and cuddle for an evening under stars with snow on the ground. Obviously.

First off: These are all AUs and in by no means associated with 'canon' Infinite.

Infinite Salvation (Complete) is about a gay conversion camp that houses the members of Infinite. I wouldn't read it if you're not really fond of that idea, but the story doesn't entirely focus on converting them into straight saints. It's more about them coming in terms with their pasts, their sexualities and accepting who they are. Although the main bad guy of the story is so bent on making them straight and making their lives hell in it. It has a happy ending, though, so give it a chance if you're interested.

Infinite Revival (Complete) is about the members of Infinite having mental disorders. But it doesn't actually focus on that. It focuses more on them and what they're going through, why they're like that and what happened in their past and copping with their problems. It's just wonderful, even though the illness part becomes a bit downplayed through the story, it's still a great story because it doesn't focus entirely on the illnesses but on the members. (***Another reading I love this story and the next are because I can completely see the members having the listed problems.***)

Infinite Revival: Life After Treatment (Ongoing) is the sequel to Infinite Revival that focuses on their lives and hardships after they leave Infinite Revival. It has humanity feel simply because of how realistic it is. It tugs more on my heart then the prequel did, but mainly because of how realistic it is to real life. What happens in the story is pretty much what would happen in real life, and I think that's great. It also shows them copping with new problems.

Infinite Force (Ongoing) is about the members of Infinite having realized and finding out they have super powers. The story just started and not all the members are shown yet, but if this story is anything like the aforementioned, it'll be just as great. (***Same with Revival, I can completely see each of the members of Infinite having the powers listed for them. ovo***)

Each of these stories are multi-chapter and multi-POV. But it works. They are also lengthy, with amazing plots, character development and are easy to understand. They also flow really well. Like, I'm absolutely in love with these stories and the author. The author is a complete sweetheart, too!
