It was a comfortable silence the two shared, hands working on moving dirt and watering plants in the garden the two ran on the island. The only words exchanged was Shadow guiding Knuckles' hands where they needed to be.
There was a pause in movements immediately by the two however as there was a sudden energy shift in the air. Knuckles quickly getting to his feet in alarm. "Did you feel that?"
"I did." Shadow answered. That felt a lot like a pocket of chaos energy being used, and it was not coming in the direction of the Master Emerald. "I'll go check it out, you head back to the alter to make sure no one comes for it."
"Who made you my boss? Last time I checked, I'm in charge of this island." Huffed the Echidna. He couldn't see the roll of the eyes from his companion, although he was certain it was happening. He was also certain Shadow was going to ignore him.
Which was correct. "I'll be back soon." And with that the hedgehog ran off to find what exactly caused the disturbance.
