Gap jumps on sales rebound, McDonald's to take Q2 charge
Here are some of the stocks the Yahoo Finance team will be watching for you today.
Gap (GPS) shares rose in early trading after the retailer surprised investors with its first same-store sales increase in more than a year. June comparable sales rose 2% thanks mainly to improved traffic at its Old Navy stores.
McDonald’s (MCD) shares are on investors’ radars. The fast-food chain said it will take $235 million pre-tax charge in the second quarter related to the relocation of the corporate headquarters, selling locations to franchisees and cutting costs. The company estimates the charge will equate to about $0.20 per share.
Juno Therapeutics (JUNO) shares tanked in early trading after the biotech firm said late yesterday that its cancer drug trial has been put on hold by the Food and Drug Administration after two patients taking part in the study died last week.
Apollo Education (APOL), the parent company of the University of Phoenix, delivered a beat on both its top and bottom lines for its fiscal third quarter – even though revenue fell 18% from a year ago. The for-profit company did not hold a conference call or provide guidance due to the pending takeover by private-equity firm Apollo Global Management Vistria Group and Najafi Cos.
