He had been giving Grayson only few word responses and the most apathetic hello that he had ever given anyone ever; that had been for the past few weeks since his release and since the war that never was. Tristan never got the choice to forget things very easily and so he willingly let himself abandon all the chaos of his memory from the time on the battlefield. After spending the majority of his young adulthood locked up, he at least wanted to try to move on and forge a different path with the Amaranthus coven. Last time the two young witch spoke to each other they had both conspired to commit crimes and got tossed out; it was only in their best interest to not associate with one another any longer. At least that had been Tristan's unspoken point. He didn't talk to Grayson. He avoided the witch who had once been his good friend, his only companion to the dangers of the Otherworld and even his first kiss. They had been such stupid kids back then.
If Tristan still thought fondly on those memories, if a part of him still wanted to reach out and to experience that unique bond of trust and real friendship again than he avoided those thoughts and that longing. At least he had up until that point, watching Grayson start to wander underneath the staircase; this was likely the first time that they'd been alone in weeks. The Watcher's mouth opened up before he could stop himself. "I'd avoid the fireplace right now," Tristan piped up, looking down at Grayson while some ash from his cigarette came floating down. "Lots of people over there." Tristan himself enjoy talking to people but people didn't enjoy talking to him so he came off quite anti-social. But he remembered his friend; Grayson had always been more truthfully anti-social.
