@eddie asked: ❛ is now a bad time ? ❜
impatience was something jackie was cursed with. the need to have things delivered to her exactly when she wanted them plagued her day to day existence. either she was getting angry because someone wasn't meeting her standards, or she was being criticized for her poor control over her emotions. it wasn't fair. she was honest about how she liked things & if other people couldn't handle that then that was their problem ! however the biggest downside was the disappointment. the upset settling in her stomach when something she genuinely wanted, & even tried waiting for, seemed not to come.
that is until she had finally given up & completely resigned to her comfy no-boys-can-witness attire.
" hello ! duh ! " muffled voice rang behind the plush pillow she'd quickly snatched to cover her face upon hearing him enter. she'd barely glanced two seconds towards her window before panic set in. any excitement she may have experienced hearing the sounds of boots against windowsill dissipated as she was faced with a horrible reality. she wasn't wearing any makeup.
a long whine followed her response, fingers grasping tightly to the pillow to keep it from faltering. " edward, i specifically told you to come over at 6. it's like 9:30 ! i thought you bailed. " tone softened for just a moment before she continued " so obviously i was like wow that's totally uncool, guess i should pamper myself to make myself feel better about being STOOD UP. so i did exactly that. i took of my makeup & put on a mask & put up my hair & ----- ugh ! i am so not presentable right now ! "
her tone stayed consistent, annoyance clear as day with only small clouds of uncertainty. she was offended & believed to be rightfully so. his poor timing & lack of fair warning wasn't going to reflect back on her. even if the thought of being stood up by him hurt her feelings, causing just a sprinkle of self consciousness, she wouldn't give him the benefit of knowing so. he messed up ! why should he then get the satisfaction of knowing how much she'd been looking forward to seeing him, & how sensitive she was to any inkling of abandonment ?
" i'm not moving until you turn around. or go in the closet ! i'm serious ! "
