While the past few months have been filled with impromptu dinners , strolls in the park, or taking Ace to local parks and zoo’s together Scarlett never realized any of these could be what one would call a ‘date’. Sure, Ace was also on these outings/ get togethers but the way Oscar just fit so well into her everyday life it was as if he’d always been apart of their everyday lives. Scarlett found herself liking it this way, everything with Oscar just felt so- well- easy. She never had to wonder if she would see him again or worry about missing him because the universe just seemed to keep bringing their paths together, something that she couldn’t help but be thankful for. It had been awhile since she laid in bed and did anything other than overthink her entire existence and every choice she has made. But for the past few months every night she has went to bed giddy as a lovestruck teen. She waited for the moments she could see him again in anticipation and the butterflies in her stomach had only seem to grow stronger every-time she did.
The two had rekindled their friendship when he moved back into town and how things worked out with Dom living in New York it was as if the universe aligned it this way. Scarlett had never been a ‘everything happens for a reason’ person but lately she was beginning to think otherwise. It was kind of a blur on how the arrangements were made and how it happened she didn’t care, all she knew was that they had hung out alone plenty of times in the past way before she was a mother, but this felt different. Something about arranging a sitter for Ace and planning to go somewhere more dressed up than usual set this apart. It was their first real date and nervous was an understatement. Scarlett tousled her hair once more, the third or possibly eighth time in the last minute. She didn’t know why she was so flustered, Oscar had literally seen her at her worst and this was just dinner right? No title needed, maybe she was reading into it all.. she let her mind overthink aimlessly nibbling her bottom lip as she did so. Snapping back to reality she heard the doorbell and dashed to the door letting in her sister who luckily was around to watch Ace. Smiling she showed her where everything was not as if Sophie didn’t already know.
Smoothing over the black silky dress she had on she did a nervous twitch and shook out her wrist speaking to herself, “Wow has it really been that long that you’re acting like this? Get it together Sinclair.” she spoke quietly to herself careful to not let her sister who was playing legos with her son hear her from the other room. Scarlett got the random urge to open the door, maybe it was a sixth sense but sometimes she just felt she could feel him without knowing it she opened her front door to be met with chocolate brown eyes. “Oh-wow hi.” she smiled softly. “I uhm- was just checking to see if the uh- porch light was on..” she made up an excuse to cover for her strange behavior. Peaking out she nodded, “Yup.. it’s on.” she swallowed hoping he didn’t want to run for the hills now. “Ready?” she asked changing the subject. Here goes nothing.
