“I want to know more about you.”  post-apocalypse five trying to bond w the fam :////

            “  WHAT ?   Really ?  ”  at  first  she  wondered,  is  this  a joke ?  Knowing  MORE  about  her ?  What  on  Earth  could  she  tell  him  that  he  didn’t  know ?  They  had  never  been  the  type  to  talk  about  their  feelings,  or  dreams,  or  anything.  As  kids  she  mostly  stayed  to  herself,  Five  too  talented  in  her  eyes  to  be  a  friend  (  always  an  enemy,  everyone’s  an  enemy  )  But  maybe  it  was  time  to  CHANGE  that.  She  didn’t  even  know  when  to  start,  or  what  to  say.  “  What  do  you  want  to  know ?  I  think  you  know  everything  already.  I  mean,  you  missed  a  lot  but...  ”  [  Ben,  Patrick,  Claire  ]  “  We  already  filled  you  in,  I  think.  ”  she  offered  a  smile,  since  she  couldn’t  figure  out  what  Five  really  wanted  from  her.  A  heartfelt  talk ?  She’s  GOOD  at  those,  but  only  at  the  listening  part.  (  Secrets  are  important  )

BITTEN  OFF  SCOFF ,  MORE  AIR  THAN  TEETH , a sound for humoring that doesn’t quite make it past the gums .  caught somewhere in-between ,  the joke suddenly  LOST  on him  &  dried up on his tongue ,  a quick sip from his mug to satiate it .  the taste is more bitter than he remembers ;  instinctive tug at the corners of his lips that he forces to momentum  ——  GRINS  around it like it belongs there  (  maybe it does  )  &  studies the ceramic instead of her expression .  

         ❛  forty-five  —  hell ,  fifty-eight years beg to differ  ❜  ,  he wants to say . ❝  you speak from personal experience ?  ❞ he says instead ,  words lilted with haphazard  SKEPTICISM  &  pride merely portioned sincerity .               @coffive​  cont.

                  Allison  looked  away,  her  brothers  expression  a  little  too  much  for  her.  It  scared  her,  truly,  when  he  smiled  like  he  had  nothing  to  lose.  (  Haven’t  they  lost  enough ?  )  Her  eyebrows  furrowed  together,  forming  a  distasteful  frown.  She  didn’t  understand  which  part  of  her  sentence  had  elicitied  this  response  from  Five.  [  why  are  you  surprised ?   you’ve  never  been  helpful  ]                   “  Yes.  I  speak  from  personal  experience.  I’ve  been  hurt  too.  I  was  STRANDED  here  without  being  able  to  even  speak,  LOST  without  my  family  for  two  years.  I  also  grew  up  with  Reginald  Hargreeves  as  an  egotistical  father.  I’m  SORRY  you  spent  that  time  in  the  future,  and  I’m  so  sorry  we  couldn’t  help  you.  But  being  like  this  won’t  make  you  happy  either.  ”   maybe  that  was  the  wrong  thing  to  say.  HAPPY ?  When  have  they  ever  been  happy ?

“ do you know what i've done ? what i would do again if given the chance ? ” w/ five

              “  NO,  I  don’t  know  anything  because  you  never  tell  us  anything !  ”  started  Allison,  ready  to  lecture  this  kid  (  not  so  kid  )  on  filial  communication.  The  Hargreeves  family  had  never  been  good  at  this,  which  isn’t  surprising  considering  how  Reginald  had  educated  them.  But  Allison  prided  herself  in  being  the  most  family-oriented  sibling,  and  had  long  passed  over  her  moments  of  jelaousy  or  hatred  for  the  other  siblings.  “  Whenever  I  ask  you  if  you’re  fine,  what  have  you  done,  what  should  we  do...  You’re  always  worried  about  your  next  plan. ”  a  pause,  recovering  her  breath.  Hands  moving  dramatically,  trying  to  emphasize  the  situation.  “  It’s  never  my  business  with  you.  ”              She  understood,  of  course,  that  Five  hid  things  from  them  to  protect  them.  But  that’s  the  thing,  nobody  ever  protected  Five  from  his  own  feelings  or  thoughts.  From  the  memories  that  probably  haunt  him  every night.  Maybe  they  weren’t  as  close   as  to  share  this  things,  but  she  was  growing  frustrated  with  having  little  to  no  information  but  having  to  adjust  herself  to  the  situation.

“ i have my reasons for being this way. ”

            “  I  KNOW   you  do  but  this  is  not  an  excuse,  FIVE !  ”   she  had  just  found  out  about  what  her  brother  had  done  to  keep  them  safe.  Don’t  get  her  WRONG,  Allison  was  all  about  protecting  her  family  no  matter  the  cost.  But  this  time,  Five  had  to  do  something  terrible  and  they  hadn’t  even  gotten  anything  out  of  it.  He  had  been  used,  and  that’s  what  it  worried  Allison  the  most.  “  You...  Killed  ALL  those  people.  ”  she  started,  tone  dissapointed.  But  when  she  raised  her  eyes  to  meet  his,  something  got  caught  in  her  throat.  Sadness ?  Anger ?  No.  Five  wasn’t  looking  very  well.  Guilt,  probably,  was  eating  him  up.  Since  his  little  plan  had  failed,  even  if  it  had  been  everyone  else’s  fault.           “  I’m  sorry  I  couldn’t  get  to  the  meeting  point.  I’m  sorry  it  was  all  in  VAIN.  ”  she  spared  the  details.  One  of  the  swedish  brothers  was  dead  in  her  living  room,  Raymond  thought  she  was  a  monster  ( probably ) ,  and  they  were  still  trapped  there.  “  There  were  some  unexpected  guests.  ”

“ what’s more important to you ? their life or your reputation ? ”

           That  HURT  more  than  it  should’ve.  Maybe  because  it  had  a  little  bit  of  truth  sprinkled  in  it.  She  knew  it  wasn’t  an  innocent  question,  it  was  a  jab  at  her.  But  she  had  changed  (  or  so  she  hoped  )  this  time  alone,  and  she  wouldn’t  fall  for  it  this  time.  Five  was  important  to  her,  as  well  as  the  rest  of  the  siblings,  and  she  didn’t  want  to  fight  anymore.  It  was  hard  enough  to  fight  the  END  of  the  world.            “  I  don’t  have  a  reputation  anymore.  So  it  doesn’t  matter,  I’ll  just  save  their  lives  as  I  should. ”  that’s  what  I  was  trained  for  is  what  got  caught  in  her  tongue.

“   you  want  me  to  punch  him  in  the  face  ??   ” - Five

           “  AGAIN  with  the  punching,  Five ?  I  really  don’t  need  anyone  to  punch  him  in  the  face.  I  have  a  mad  right  hook.  ”  joked  Allison.  Of  course,  they  weren’t  even  talking  about  someone  that  needed  to  be  punched.  Well,  she  could  think  of  a  lot  of  people  that  wanted  to  punch  Luther,  but  it  wasn’t  the  case  for  her  at  the  moment.             “ You  know...  if  I  need  you  to  punch  someone,  I  will  tell  you.  You  are  my  big  brother  after  all.  That’s  what  you  are  for... HA ”
