the gym was always quiet this early in the morning. she'd come to like the peace, having the first pick of the machines, taking the time for herself even in this small way. training had toned down, but she was still in the habit of making sure to keep herself on a schedule. and, as a part of that schedule, she had her workout friend.
she took her headphones off, "how are you doing?" she hadn't seen him since the carnival. then again, it felt like the whole town had been turned upside-down— needing to rebuild, needing some stability. most importantly, needing healing, as she clarified: "how's your arm?"
