a collection of zip-up hoodies. spending extra time in the greenhouses to help professor sprout water the plants. staying on top of your assignments. responsibility, like a cloak you were born to wear. always taking the high road. a cautious step forward. courage of the quieter, calmer sort. growing up watching your mother work her own sort of magic in the kitchen. crying when you received your hogwarts letter, because you wanted to be like her instead. shying away from risk and recklessness. what’s the point of intentionally putting yourself in danger? fellow gryffindors teasingly calling you "dad.”
kajal bhatt & remy olivier → sure, maybe sometimes it feels more like they’re your children than your best friends, but you wouldn’t trade that for anything. you balance each other out: kajal the fire-starter, remy the goofball, riley the... inhibitor? planner? mum? you don’t want to be a wet blanket, but kajal and remy can be quite a lot sometimes. it’s good for them to have someone to reel them in just a bit. and of course, as your best friends, they know you better than almost anyone else. there have never been secrets between the three of you, creating a ride-or-die sort of friendship that you know isn’t going anywhere.
benjamin dunstan → you and benji have been a couple for so long, it’s hard to remember how the two of you even got started. they’ve been solidly by your side for most of your time at hogwarts, and it’s comforting to know that at least this one thing in your life is constant. you’ve always been mature for your age --- probably more mature than you ever needed to be --- but benji brings out a side of you that’s wide-eyed with wonder, playful like a child. a side you didn’t even know existed. ‘i love you’s have bonded you together, and it’s a bond you don’t think you’ll ever want to break.
beatrice haywood → their family’s lived one town over from yours for as long as you can remember, but you never actually got to know beatrice all that well. in fact, you barely knew anything about the haywoods at all. that is, until the beginning of this summer, when your family dinner was interrupted by a knock at the door. on the other side, you found a tear-soaked beatrice, still crying and stammering please, i had to leave, there’s nowhere else i can go. you took them in, of course, no questions asked; and they stayed with you and your family for the entire remainder of the summer.
