   She doesn’t look from her phone, though a faint smile tugs at the corner of her lips.     “Have you ever heard of the joke where a person thinks of something... somewhat inappropriate and their thoughts suddenly shift to an apology toward any potential telepath?”

   “I take it you’ve been apprised of the situation, then?” Weapons are tucked away within reach as she speaks, clearly hoping the other was more than prepared for what was to come. “I would hope they didn’t send someone still wet around the ears for this -- scores or not, this is a delicate situation.”

"I can't see how this is even up for debate, neither Tajeda nor Utley touched the base. This is absolutely ridiculous." She's talking at the TV.

It’s a balance, creating weapons of pure energy that can cause damage.  Too much of one, and the weapon is weak, too much of another, and it  lacks the physical damage (what those things were, still escaped her, it wasn’t necessarily a science, after all).  The sword in her hand shifts to an axe, which she whips toward her intended target -- a well and used dummy -- only to stop mere millimeters from it as the hairs on the back of her neck rise -- “Yes?”
