He let out a bright, easy laugh at the cat’s bold statement, the sound bubbling up warm and genuine as he stood there in the flickering candlelight of the old prom hall. His scythe rested casually against his shoulder like it weighed nothing at all, the blade catching faint glimmers that danced across the dusty floorboards.

“Well, I sure hope so,” he said, still chuckling as he shook his head a little, messy hair shifting with the motion. “I’m not totally sure what would happen, but if death could actually die… yeah, I can promise you it wouldn’t be good for anyone.”

He shifted his weight onto one hip, leaning more comfortably into the scythe like it was an old friend he was just hanging out with. The faint scent of graveyard flowers and spilled punch lingered in the air around them, mixing with the distant thump of music still playing somewhere deeper in the building.

“But man, that kinda talk coming from you?” His voice stayed light and upbeat, full of that same playful spark he always carried, even when the topic turned heavy. “After all, you cats cheat death all the time. I know a ton of your kind figure you’ll just keep on going forever.”
