What I find really funny about SoC is that not a single one of crows considered Jan Van Eck to be a horrible father and that being the reason why Wylan is in the Barrel which implies that despite meeting so many bad people not a single one of them was a bad parent

okay so i know everyone keeps saying "jesper's gonna outlive wylan blah blah blah he's grisha blah blah blah"

but like guys....cmon

jesper is in no way cautious and as much as i hate to say it he is quite prone to getting himself in situations where it seems like he's gonna die

jesper may have the biological advantage but that does not mean ANYTHING if he gets himself killed first

(though i can see wylan finding a way to get him out of horrid situations almost magically)

but none of this actually matters because the crows don't die.

wesper doesn't die ever and even if they do we've already established that their ghosts WILL be associating with each other

i hate hate hate all of you who keep reminding me that jesper is grisha so he'll live longer than wylan. like fuck you honestly because i didnt need that in my brain. i didnt require that information. i could've kept on going on with my life and now i cant now that haunts me and i cant sleep and i might pass out lord jesus saints ghezen djel i hate you all

nobody's asking for it but it's been on my mind so:

my full list of takes on the crows' cat/dog preferences

Jesper: as noted previously, absolute sucker for the whole aloof thing cats have going on. tries to befriend every cat he sees and dreams of having a cat follow him around like a familiar. devastated that they never seem to take to him. Wylan has tried to explain that cats don't like when people seem desperate this has not sunk in at all. (likes dogs, as well, but in a normal and low-stakes kind of way)

Wylan: Animal person in general, will stop to say hi to every single dog he sees walking in the park. Famous stray-cat-feeder, honestly the kind of gay to have pet rats if it was normalized.

Inej: cat person in that she loves them and would never own a dog in a million years, but loves seeing her friends' dogs. Keeps a bag of treats on her at all times in case she sees Trassel.

Kaz: actively dislikes dogs, finds them "untrustworthy" because they are enthusiastic about almost everyone they meet. enjoys the whole proximity-time thing cats do, though he'd never admit it

Matthias: Dog person all the way down. Finds them simple and straightforward and likes that. Is a little worried about hurting/stepping on cats bc they're so small. May or may not have an undiagnosed cat allergy.

Nina: could really go either way, likes cats and dogs for different reasons (cats because theyre soothing and pretty, dogs bc theyre fun). Might have gotten a cat if it weren't for matthias, but doesnt mind not having one either
