❛ I have many problems, pick your favorite; I don't care and fuck you. ❜
cont. from discord with @lionslight .
He did not respond to quip; not immediately. Anduin neared closer to the barrier, retrieving from his side a small set of keys, then proceeded to insert one of them into the locked door before him. In a moment, it was unlocked, and he gently swung the door open before entering the cell, closing said door behind him without bothering to lock it once more. Still, he gazed upon the orc, a resolute stare seeming to carry with it the judgement of the kings which came before Anduin; even those who had not viewed characters like Saurfang for their individuality, but rather the actions of their race. Nevertheless, he was unarmed, and quite possibly defenseless against whatever action Varok had to take; and still, he did not fear.
"I could chain you to a pole in Old Town, and I would perhaps still be granting you more decency than the Dark Lady." The words spoken sought to encompass a biting and caustic nature, but only due to the truth of them. Gloved hands moved to remove the hood which sheathed youthful features, and light blond locks cascaded about them thereafter. "And believe me... Under any other king of the Alliance, your execution would have already occurred; though I have reason to suspect you'd find that gratifying right about now." He spoke coldly, and it was especially noticeable coming from a voice which seldom sought to weave anything but, hope, compassion, and inspiration. "...Tell me, Varok Saurfang... At this moment in time, who is your enemy?"
at first, all the boy-king earns himself is a snort. saurfang can’t deny that he’s RIGHT, they both know that. anduin is certainly not varian, of this he is painfully aware; if it were VARIAN taking him prisoner, varok would not be alive to make the observation. strangely enough, he does not feel as he perhaps should, imprisoned behind enemy lines after having been left there for dead. there is SPITE growing in his heart, a familiar feeling — but on this occasion, it is not reserved for the alliance.
❛ my ENEMY? ❜ he asks, his voice a growl on tusked lips. saurfang’s enemies are not few. but at this point, it is a HARD question to answer. his enemy does not lie with the horde — they are his people. he has fought in the name of the horde and its core beliefs for a very long time. his son DIED for the horde, even when it was ruled by an orc not worth dying for. to renounce it all, as he suspects anduin will expect him to do, is almost CERTAINLY out of the question... isn’t it?
his hands, mighty and strong and able to crush any human’s head like a melon, twitch from where they reside in his lap. his voice is a spit of VENOM when he speaks again, as though the words are bitter and harsh in his mouth like ACID.
❛ my enemy lies with the WARCHIEF. ❜

"It's late, Cloud, and the others have nodded off. Given most follow your lead on our mission, I suggest you rest as well." Vincent spoke to the blond, as they were sat around camp. The tattered remnants of AVALANCHE, and the strays picked up along the way, the raven haired included, were settled for the night with the intention of moving on in the morning.
Red eyes, intense yet calming, turned to stare intently at Cloud before relaxing. "I'll keep watch. I don't need sleep as often as the rest of you. And there's no telling when next we'll face a shred of the calamity. The smarter play is to keep ourselves strong."

Cloud was lost in his thoughts, dwelling on the past, wondering of the future, deciding what they should do, all of these thoughts -- he supposed he must've spaced out. At the mention of his name, his attention was promptly turn towards Vincent, suggesting he should rest. ❛ ... Right. ❜ He acknowledged softly, he'd suggest otherwise as the one accustomed to sleepless nights, especially if it meant keeping everyone else but.. that might end up worrying everyone instead. He trusted Vincent, even with knowing little about him, and surely he would be able to handle himself should trouble come there way.
❛ Even so, you should get some rest when you have the chance. ❜ He suggested before moving to find a spot to lay down.
Sephiroth stood before the blond SOLDIER, and unbeknownst to all standing in the corner of ShinRa as the sirens went off, even he and Cloud both, the two were clearly questioning quite a few things about one another... How they were here, what their intentions were, and why the heaviness rested between them. It seemed clear, to Sephiroth at least, given his last actions and how they related to Cloud...and how he held grudges towards the blond himself.
But in this moment, masamune still dripping with ShinRa's blood, he knew many thoughts and feelings should be saved for a more appropriate time.
"I don't know that you and your simple team are prepared for the war you just stepped into... Feel how you must about the death of ShinRa...more should follow, but there is infesting this monster we stand within right now. I suggest you flee, and consider your options."
With that, the silver ghost, the walking legend and living horror, turned and began to leave behind Cloud and his friends to deal with the rest of their escape...which he had happened to aid them in for reasons yet unknown.

It had taken the ex-SOLIDER a second to register Sephiroth's presence, immediately frozen in his steps, breathing became labored expressing the instant rage seeing him; the same old interaction. Promptly drawing his sword, holding it in front of him in an defensive stance as Cloud glared. He didn't care for anything else, his surroundings, the others who had gone ahead, or even what the hell the bastard was doing here as the two just looked at each other for a few minutes.
-- The death of Shinra? Did he..? Cloud held his tongue at the revelation, unsure to interpret as his own goals of endless slaughter or if this was some attempt to be helpful given his suggestion the blond contemplated on following, although it was already what the group had in mind since rescuing Aerith, they had no need to linger here. Cautiously, Cloud withdrew his weapon, Sephiroth wasn't presenting himself as a threat.. or trying to provoke him this time.. but why?
His train of thought was interrupted by Tifa calling his name in the distance, which broke the tension and drew his attention towards instead of the other, by the time he returned to Sephiroth, he had left.. Cloud remained where he was for a few seconds to think over the words Sephiroth had said before running off to catch up with the rest of his group.
