BAD END: BASIL [AU]

In Basil's BAD END AU-- he's lost everything. The respect of Mousekind, his home, his housekeeper-- and most of all, Dawson. He's bereft and broken-- and the only place he seems to find safety or solace is with Ratigan. The criminal mastermind takes Basil in and under his wing-- showing him how cruel and callous the world truly is.

And how, with the right attitude-- he could save it in his own way. Even if he couldn't save himself.

Basil still refuses to harm 'innocent' people, but his definition of that word grows all the more vague the more time he spends with his former nemesis. He begins to see the monarchy as a symptom of a greater illness, and intends to set things right.

Basil becomes a vigilante-- acting in disguise and attacking several targets that he sees as 'harming' mousekind, rather than leading them.

Giving Zootopia Basil a flip phone is genius.

He really doesn't need all those bells and whistles. He doesn't even have any social media either. Though that might change when Dawson joins him on his adventures.

I don't think he'd even know how to use one. He comes from a very small village where he was the smartest in all the county. Moving to the city has left him a bit shell shocked, and he's clinging to his outdated and outmoded phone as the one lingering strip of 'the simpler times' he has.
