A comic-type project and some original designs/concepts for Factionless Hema that inspired the format and design eventually used for chapter 8, ‘Hello...?’. Between the concept art and the actual chapter, a lot changed.

When this idea was first pitched, Hematite was going to send out video messages instead of just audio. However, audio alone worked better for the purpose of the chapter.

Originally, Hematite’s visor was going to get broken along his travels, cutting off his communications with Homeworld. This was changed to his archival visor power source running out of juice and shutting down.

On top of that, Hema was actually poofed during the time he was missing, resulting in his form change. This was changed to a willing form change in the final draft.
