[ * Deja vu was a term that sprang to mind. ]
[ * LETHE had been fiddling with his gadgets, alone in his darkened “VOID” lab, where he had been for ages. None of these devices seemed to work like they used to, no matter how much he tinkered. Eventually he had enough and set them down again and closed his eyes, pressing his hands to the table. ]
[ * Enough, he thought. Enough of getting nowhere. ]
[ * And then he was somewhere. ]
[ * Opening his eyes, he found himself in an unfamiliar lab with unfamiliar walls and an unfamiliar smell--and yet he knew exactly where he was. The CORE. This was the CORE. He knew because he spent so much time here. But how? Why? ]
