Dear Marlene [ @marlenemcknncn ],
how’s the Christmas break going so far? We haven’t really spoken in a while, I think both of us were pretty busy, so I wanted to check in, see how you were and how things are? Anything interesting happening lately?

Remus wished at certain times he could just go back to listening to the waves hit the coast. A time where he could build sand castles and sand people, not to worry about the Dark Lord or the Legacy of Salazar. Even more he wouldn’t have to think about what Fenrir cursed him with for the rest of his life. After break had finished he found it odd that he hadn’t heard from Wormtail in quite some time. It wasn’t like his best friends to not keep in touch. James couldn’t do so, but he had a viable excuse considering he was practically in a coma.
More animalistic than he cared to admit, he had started to slowly check on people he was close with. Making sure no impending doom had gotten them while he was distracted. There wasn’t a time that he had felt this close to the monster version of himself, ever. The wolf overhauled his movements on autopilot, and it wasn’t until he got to the Gryffindor common room that he understood his own psyche.
Approaching Marlene, he cleared his throat. “Hey Marsie.I’m glad to see that um.. the..that.. you’re alright.” Words. He knew how to speak them on occasion.

Sleep was for the weak, Remus had decided. The boy juggling classes and sitting during visiting hours next to the petrified figure of James Potter. Trying his best to fit in time for the library and studying. The boy was exhausted and drained of most of his humane energy. Still his joints trembled feeling the beast coarse through his veins.
One quaint afternoon as the dust from Gringott’s had settled. Remus had been running his fingers through his disheveled curls. The feeling had turned his brain off for a minute, his eyelids becoming heavy with airless weight. He isn’t sure how long he had drifted standing by the Gryffindor door. When he comes to he notices a familiar figure standing in front of him. Remus jumps back with a soft groan of protest.
“Merlin, Marls! Do you have to be so.. terrifying?”
"I'm to be married to him, Marlene! I didn't run off with him! You're my best friend, I don't know why you guys can't get along..." Dorcas rubbed at her face and sighed.
