There were a few moments in Peter’s day that he could say that he loved the most. The first was the end of classes, when he could spend a couple of hours before dinner simply relaxing, grabbing a nap or catching up on some of the studying he had missed out on during his little hiatus from school, and the second, well, the second was lunch time.
Honestly, it was mostly for the same reason.
As he exited the greenhouses, he kept his strides slow and even, letting students filter out past him and catching snippets of conversations. Things about what that boy said to this girl, boring shit that he could care less about, but he always kept his ears open. It was bound to come in handy one of these days, some student feeling way too comfortable and speaking up about something juicy he could absolutely hold on to.
It was also never a bad thing to have a bit of blackmail on his classmates, just in case. People never really seemed to notice him listening, which he was more than pleased with.
But sometimes, he simply had to let those things go, and as he glanced up ahead of him, he noticed a familiar head of hair up ahead and a smirk flitted across his face for a moment before he adjusted his bag and jogged to catch up, throwing his arm around the shoulders of his mate and offering him a grin. “As I live and breathe, Remus John Lupin.” He had, in his own opinion, fallen back into things rather easily, keeping up his appearances and friendships, and it was moments like this one that helped, in his mind.
“Would you believe I’m super behind in every single class and likely going to repeat my 6th year for the rest of my life? Such a hassle.”

Things were slowly going into stride or he had unwittingly fallen into autopilot. The night before with all his mates back in the dorm helped him get at least three hours of needed sleep. It was the most amount of sleep he had gotten in a span in quite some time. At least his eyes hadn’t drooped as he walked on clutching the strap of his bookbag across his shoulder. His ears heard Peter, and truth be told he could smell his best friend even before he felt the hands clamp across his shoulder.
A genuine smile offered as he spun his head slightly to look over his shoulder. “Peter!” He glanced around before he added in a soft whisper. “Wormy. I’m so glad you’re back and safe now.” Remus murmured affectionately, jokingly bending his back slightly so he could jokingly carry the other boy. At least that’s how he pictured it in his head, but his limbs were much too bony for all that. He stopped immediately once he realized he wasn’t doing what he had intended and laughed lightheartedly instead.
There was something he couldn’t pinpoint when it came to Peter. Unsure of what it was, he tossed it to the back of his mind. “Hmmm. Do you need me to help with your subjects? I don’t mind. I could do a few essays no problem.” He offered lowly so no one else could hear but the other boy. Not that he minded school work in the slightest, he actually loved it. “I was just heading to the library. Want to come with me? I heard they have a new werewolf book, and I need to hide it with the lot of them.”
