Skylie had been awake for a long time. Days. She had woken up in a glass tube, looking at a large leathery egg. Skylie was fortunate in that her egg never opened.
But her brother... His egg HAD opened, but no creature to be seen. And he seemed otherwise okay. Tucker had been awoken by Skylie and freed from his tube.
The place was silent save for the inner workings of the ship they were on. There were others. Also in glass tubes. But they were dead. Gaping, bloody holes in their chests. The two children had taken to hiding in the vents when a large, black creature dropped in from above. Tucker had the forethought to barricade themselves in the little vent. It was hours before the creature left. By then Skylie and Tucker were exhausted. Tucker felt ill, like his chest was congested.
So Skylie had set out in search of medicine...
