death much like life was inevitable. everything burned for as long as it could but eventually something makes the light go out and that's it. it used to be easier to think that way, to remain a constant neutral party, existing only for the sake of the job that he was supposed to do and he sure as hell used to do it so well. didn't find himself caught up in the drama that laid outside of his jurisdictions but like most beings change became inevitable and the souls he carried could never be as heavy as his own. he still hasn't ignored many calls to death or the way death lingers around those who cause the most of it but on this occasion he's drawn by accident. following a tired sense of an echo that might lead him to the next soul that needs to be carried.

when he eventually finds a person the first thing he does is squint, denying himself the awkward finger poke to make sure they weren't a spirit. made all the funnier that he could just check in the normal way...but where's the fun in that. instead he draws a smile something that he'd come to learn wasn't the mysterious veil of evasive nature he'd wanted it to be but instead just made him look like some awkward dude about to talk about his favourite show for the next five hours. " gonna sound real weird..." he chuckles, not nervous as much as trying to evade seeming suspicious. " seen any dead bodies around here?" he lets his gaze move around, scanning the area trying to place what he was sensing uncertain that it wasn't just her. " see i'm pretty sure I se-" he takes a second, realises that he might have to play this a little more cool and just falls into his default. " i'm a private investigator, just looking into a recent death...you seen anything?"
