More like a ‘stay the fuck out of my forest’. Indirectly, of course. Most people were gullible enough to believe him and stay out of the forest. Most of them that weren’t? Never came back out. Some did, ‘miraculously’. He let them go to spread word that the dead forest was a terrifying and horrific place where people die horrible, horrible deaths.
