:[ ♦ ]:. If there was one thing that Levi truly liked about Eren, it was the fact that the younger had a lot of heart. How many bruises did he get trying to pick fights? Quite a bit. And yet he kept trying to catch his attention regardless. Levi wasn’t sure whether that was something to be concerned about or if he should be pleased to know that the other boy wasn’t one to back down from any form of challenge. It was for this reason that he never tended to step in whenever Eren was in a fight. Perhaps it was some odd sense of honor that kept him keeping his distance and simply observing. Maybe the other male did all this so he could impress Levi?
After all, it was no easy thing to do. He had high expectations for those that joined his gang, so perhaps Eren was trying to catch his eye with all this? It was amusing to an extent, all of this reminding him of when Isabel had did everything in her power to get invited into his gang. “That kid gets into a lot of trouble around here,” Farlan brought up, leaning against a wall and glancing over to his leader. “When are you going to tell him he can’t join? I know this is a process and all, but…he…really thinks he has a chance. Don’t break his heart, Levi.”
Pressing his cigarette back between his lips, Levi took a long drag, allowing that poison to linger for a moment before slowly exhaling. “…I’m not. Contrary to how it looks, I’m actually assessing just how much he wants this. Never seen someone with as much heart as him before though. Most give up by now and go off somewhere else. He’s really trying…”
“Of course he is. He looks up at you like you’re some kind of hero,” Farlan continued, admonition within his tone as those blues watched Levi with the scrutiny of a mother hen. Damn his friends and their stubbornness sometimes. Farlan was not going to let his go by any means because he actually had a soft spot for the boy himself. How long had Eren been following them around trying to get into their gang? A few weeks? More? Levi had lost track of the time. This neighborhood was by no means safe, and so it was a bit irresponsible on his end to allow Eren to wander around without someone keep a very close eye on him. Despite being a gang boss, he wasn’t as vicious as his image and reputation portrayed him as.
“Let him try a little longer and I’ll see.” Farlan gave him a long look, trying to see past the apathetic expression that Levi often wore before he gave a small nod. Just a bit more. He hoped…that Eren was eventually deterred. A deep part of himself didn’t want the younger male getting involved in this kind of life. It was one of the reasons he tried his best to make it near impossible to join his group. He wasn't sure if Eren figured this out or not, and to be honest, he hoped he didn't. The other male seemed the kind of person who would keep trying despite the odds against him.
