Now she had been keeping her eyes out for this fickle figure. Everytime Elisa would decide to take a walk out the countryside, her eyes would turn away from the towering and intimidating Miserable Mountain to the field of tall grass and wildflowers, looking for signs of activity. She swore she had seen a little girl the size of a mouse just a week ago, and she was determined to find this being and catch it to show to her parents...at least to tell them she was not going insane. She planned to release it afterwards with a hearty sweet treat, but the plans were useless when she couldn’t even find this being.
Finally, Elisa decided to step foot into the grass one afternoon. She takes careful, wide steps with her eyes to the ground just to be sure she does not step on anything until she meets a great distance into the field. Turning around, her skirt receiving kisses from the tall grass, she eyes the fields of wide silently. Only a breeze could disrupt her thinking, and even there she was unsure if this was necessary. Still, she raises her hands to cup around her lips as she shouts,
“Helloooooo? Are you out there?”
...No response, and so she continues.
“I saw you just a week ago. You don’t have to be afraid! I only want to see you again!” Please, she wants to add, thankful how far away from the village she was to gain any questioning gazes.

Now she was surely not mistaken. Wandering out in the countryside this morning felt a little off. At first she thought it must have been effects from the muffin her neighbor offered, but after a few pinches to her arm she realized that she was not imagining anything. They may have been just above the treeline, but there was no mistaking that out above the lake Elisa saw what was precisely a human figure floating still. They seemed to be at a proud stance from her view, but she felt fortunate that their back was turned to her.
“Oh my god...” she whispers, her wide, emerald eyes on the silent figure.

“I have to go home sometime...”
She says this mainly to herself as she peeks out from her shelter -- a small cavern she inspected to be empty. It was not like the day did not threaten a storm, but she should have known better than to wander to the countryside in risk of being stranded. “Mama and papa must be worried sick--” It was the CLASH of thunder that made her retreat back into the cave, her muscles tense as she lets out a shrill yelp.
Happy Days (are here again)

“I’m going to the countryside.”
The first cast of snow had blanketed the village overnight. Children had taken advantage to the coming season and skipped outside their homes for a morning of play before heading to the school house. Elisa had her eyes staring out the window since she had woken up, and immediately knew her plans for the day -- taking a long venture to the countryside. It came to no surprise with her parents as they had other ideas in lieu of the new seasonal riches. The first crunch of the snow beneath her feet brought warmth to her heart. She held her shawl tight, eyes gleaming off the rising sun as she had turned to her parents, ensuring her leave.
The countryside twinkled with untouched sheets of snow, crystals of icicles dangled off of wilted tree branches in proper decor. The season was indeed magical to the young maiden as not only for its beauty, but the many smiles it brought to this small village. And as she came upon the edge of the forest, an open wall of trees that welcomed her rain, shine, or snow, waiting for her was the curious menagerie that would wish to accompany her.
On such a beautiful morning like this, she could foresee her day at ease in relief from the usual struggles in January Junction.
