Scream: with ben
(( Going to take this more serious because drama llama :3 ))
Aiden couldn’t hear it too clearly, but he was thought he could hear the sound of his name being called—Was that Ben’s voice? Has he ever heard Ben’s voice crack that badly before? ..Why did he sound so afraid?
The collision with the ground brought his vision to black, a sickening crack hitting his ears, all before he was met with nothing. It felt like he was asleep, but for how long? He would have stayed there, if it wasn’t for the sound of a frantic voice calling out to him, screaming his name. There it was again, that shrieking sound that broke his heart, the cracking of that voice, laced with what could have been a heavy heart and sobs of pain. What was wrong, Ben? What the fuck happened?
His vision swam, not entirely certain what it had been that hit him—or how far he had fallen. The rooftop? He could have sworn they were on their way home, so what happened?
—Right. Aiden’s eyes opened quickly, sitting himself up with a painful yelp—his back aching in several places from his fall, arm left twisted up and most likely dislocated, or possibly broken. He had fallen, hit his head on the ground—how wasn’t he dead?
His attention was brought up to the sound of Ben yelling out for help, his heart leaping into his throat when he noticed the other cornered by three infected, drawing in closer. Ben was screaming for him, and the sound of it was enough to muffle his pain. In seconds, the hunter was able to scale back up to the house, making a mad dash to knock the infected over—one stumbling and falling to his death when his head was pierced by a metal fence post.
The other two were easy, the hunter using his claws to sink them into their eye sockets, forcing them almost through the squishy, rotten remains until they stopped moving. He panted and hissed, growling under his breath as he ripped his hand free from the other’s head, blood oozing from where he had pierced their brains.
Aiden quickly turned around, dropping to his knees beside his lover, who took one look at the hunter’s twisted arm and began to whimper and whine, his body shaking from head to toe, the terrified look causing Aiden’s heart to sink.
"Ben—! Are you alright, they didn’t hurt—" but he couldn’t finish his sentence before Ben’s arms wrapped around him, hugging him tight.
"I’m—I’m alright—I’m n-n-not bitten—" Ben’s voice was heavy, and Aiden quickly tried to return his embrace with one of his own. "Y-Your arm.. your head—shit—A-Aiden I thought—thought you were—Fuck I—"
"I’m alright," Aiden replied with a firm squeeze, still not entirely knowing what it had been that knocked him down to begin with. Was it the infected? Either way, the hunter was startled to be functioning, as he could feel blood trickling from somewhere on his head. "I’m.. I’m just a little tired. Come on, we need.. need to get home, quickly—shit, I can’t feel my fingers.."
The two made it home without another problem, but Aiden could see dark spots in his vision. His head injury was pretty bad, but his body was stronger than a normal infected; able to withstand a greater impact to his brain. Ben ended up having to heave the shorter man up onto his back to get him upstairs, and into the tub so he could treat his wounds and reset his arm.
The rest was a blur.
Help: with ben
How long had he been out there shouting? Why wasn’t Ben coming to the damn window? Aiden scowled and made his way up regardless, as the front door had been firmly locked up tight. The last time it had been left unlocked, an infected had wandered in and almost caused Ben to piss himself—while in the bathroom below the attic entrance.
"Ben!" Aiden’s voice was full of irritation, struggling to bring up the heavy bag of supplies he had found. Although he was starting to worry about Ben not answering, fear starting to prickle up in his mind, his irritation carried on in his voice, "Open up the damn window, moron!"
But his voice fell on deaf ears. Aiden huffed, leaving the bags behind in order to climb up to the roof, looking into the window for any sign of his lover, just in time for the latch to open. Aiden would have cursed at him, but that stupid half-asleep look on the boy’s face put the fire of his irritation out like a pile of frozen snow over a flame.
"What? sorry, I.. I was asleep," Ben rubbed at his eyes, taking a second look at the supplies Aiden had with him with a startled look. "What are those?"
"Food. I found plenty of canned food while out at the West end. I need your help getting them up there," Aiden huffed, slowly climbing down to pick the bags back up.
"R-Right, I’ll, ah, be down in a minute," Ben nodded, hurrying away from the window, but not before it accidentally closed on his fingers.
Aiden rolled his eyes at the muffled yelps of pain from Ben, as he lifted up the bags with a quiet sigh. Well, at least nothing bad had happened while he was away.. That was enough to make him relax.
Sky :D
For once, the dark sheet that smothered the sky didn’t cause everything to freeze over. It was warm, without a single star in the sky, leaving the world bathed in the white glow of moonlight.
Aiden propped open the window to their attic home to let it all air out, taking in the cool night breeze. How many nights had they gone through when even so much as poking a toe out of the sheets would leave them trembling? The winter months had been so harsh to them, up until now.
"Hey, Benji," Aiden spoke up, turning his head to see the other peeking up from over his book, enjoying the slightly irritated look that crossed his lover’s face over the use of his pet-name. "Come on outside, dummy. You’re going to love it."
Ben was reluctant, he had just made himself comfortable lounging around on the couch, but he got up anyway and made his way over to the window. “Where are we going?” His brow raised as Aiden climbed out, and gave him a hand up, following the other with a shrug. Almost instantly, as his rear met with the cold tiles of the rooftop, Ben’s mouth dropped at the sight above their heads. “Wo-woah.”
"Neat, isn’t it? It’s been a while since we’ve had a sky so clear.. and it’s not even that cold," Aiden replied with a grin, watching the other’s reaction as a bright smile crossed Ben’s lips. It was a smile Aiden wasn’t going to forget for a long time. Something about it made him feel happy, more than he had been in a long while. But, Ben always had that affect on him, it would seem.
The two sat in silence for a while, simply enjoying the sight of a milky twilight, thousands of sparking diamonds scattered across a dark canvas, spread for as far as their eyes could see. The night was silent, and not a single walker or infected could be seen or heard of anywhere nearby. They were safe to lounge, safe to relax in each other’s company.. In reality, they didn’t even need to speak, the closeness of their bodies enough to communicate a state of relaxation and peace. The touch of Aiden’s hand against Ben’s was enough to communicate an ‘I love you’, and ‘I am happy here with you’ that put them both at ease.
”..Aiden?” Ben’s voice broke their silence after a few minutes, drawing the hunter’s attention. “What month do you think it is? I-I mean.. I’ve.. sort of lost track,” he admitted with maybe a hint of sadness behind his voice. How long had it really been since their lives all fell apart simultaneously? Was there anyone left even still keeping track?
"I don’t know," Aiden responded with a quiet mumble, shifting himself closer to Ben. "..But does that really matter? ..We’ll make up our own days."
"Make it up? That.. sounds stupid," Ben chuckled, giving the shorter blonde a smile.
"Well, it’s better to think of it that way, than to say everythings lost, right?" Aiden had a point there. "..I’d like to say it’s somewhere Mid-November. Maybe December."
"December? There’s no snow yet," Ben smiled.
"Doesn’t have to be snow. I’ve had a December without snow before.. It didn’t feel right, but January took care of it," Aiden joked with a soft chuckle, giving Ben’s hand a light squeeze. "..Alright, then October, maybe? Before winter."
"That sounds better. Just before Halloween," Ben hummed, drawing his eyes back up at the sky.
”..I like that idea. It will give me plenty of time to figure out what to get your sorry ass for Christmas.”
The two couldn’t help but chuckle at Aiden’s joke, despite the hunter being slightly serious. If there had been any concept of date, he would have tried to keep that promise of a Christmas present for Ben, or maybe even a Birthday.. But they could always pretend. As long as they were together, they could have it any way they wanted.
Christmas every day, Thanksgiving, Halloween, Valentine’s day. They could have it all, any time they wanted. They were in charge of their own lives, no one else could define it for them.
They were free, as open as the crystal sky above their heads.
