Lupin aggressively flicked his lighter, sparks flying until a flame lit and he torched the end of his cigarette. He needed it. Needed the fix after the stress he just dealt with. Inhaling as the flame burned the end of his cig, he flipped the lighter shut and hastily pocketed it as he gave a steady exhale through his nose, smoke burning through his nostrils.

Pulling the cigarette from his lips, he sat there idly, anxiously tapping his foot as he contemplated his next move. His laptop sat open on his table out on the patio of a cute little cafe. He gave the screen a glare, mind ticking away before he took another drag and let out a smoke-filled sigh.

   “I can’t believe you almost left me, Jigen.”

   “Would’ve served you right, man. I’m too good for you.”

   “Is that an ego I smell? Boy, Jigen, I never would have pinned you for a guy with self-confidence beyond his skill as a gunman.”

   “Yeah, well...”  Jigen flicked his hat down and let a grin spread across his bearded face.  “Things change.”

Lupin, can I ask you something a little…personal? I know this is weird, but I’m starting to think you, Jigen, Goemon and maybe even Pops and Fujiko are like…immortal? Because you guys seem to acknowledge how out of place you are in 21st century, even though you haven’t aged at all really. So…is what Mamo said true? Are you really a God who just loves stealing?

    “A thieving god, huh?”  Lupin chuckled.  “Has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it?”

    “Who knows, though? Maybe we are immortal or maybe not!”
