He was quite aware of just how tired people probably were of his constant spiels about Luffy but Sabo couldn’t find a reason to care. He was just so proud--This boy who used to be such a crybaby is turning the tides of the new world at such a rapid pace and now this? Sabo was practically vibrating with excitement when he found out.

“Oh I’m sure--not that I’d ever let that happen” Turning the paper around, he took another glance down at that blinding smile on poster, his own smile achingly fond when he thought of him “Something tells me I won’t be needed though. He’s doing pretty well on his own don’t ya think?”

He wasn’t surprised with her response, only getting a glimpse of it out of the corner of his eye as he kept his gaze on the sky from his spot near the window. He used to not really think about things like that. Whether Heaven or Hell existed, but ever since the war...He just couldn’t help but wish that he was somewhere nice, happy. 

A quick glance was taken down at the note, followed by a hum as he turned back to the sky “no reason...was just...wondering. Never really thought about it until recently”

The silence that surrounded the two men wasn’t awkward in the slightest. It was rare that they actually had moments like this, the other usually poking fun at the blond in his laid back way or sometimes even making him a meal if Sabo caught him in the kitchen ( or complained about being hungry to the point where Greaves just offered to make him something ). Now they both stood here on one of the balconies at HQ, leaning back against the railing. He took a drag of his cigarette, simply letting the smoke escape his lips before he spoke.

“ Hey Greaves...don’t answer if you don’t want to but why did you join the army? ” It was a typical question and the answers that followed usually went along the same lines. Why did he feel like maybe that wasn’t the case for the other man? Or maybe Sabo was just thinking too much about it.
