“You want me to be a villain? Fine, I’ll show you a villain!”
Just some quick doodles
Ahh here’s my boy, my fallen Jedi boy Castor from discussions with @7minutesofscreaming
some info / a lil bit of story, under the cut obvs
he's a half sith that was taken from his family at a young age by a bitter, bitter Jedi master who was enemies with his parents, he was raised Jedi but bc of his heritage there's constant whispers about how "he'll just turn out like his parents, once a sith always a sith, they have a predisposition to darkness, you know" he tries so hard to be good, to gain approval, he's in the same classes and on the same level as Apyr but Apyr is always without fail treated as better
that sort of shit just, festers and rots him from the inside out till he just breaks
He subsequently gets into a duel with his old master and they tell him "I should never have brought you here, I knew, deep down, you could never be a Jedi." as if it isnt his fault entirely that his padawan turned out like this, Castor is heartbroken and just screams "YOU made me like this!" and there's a subsequent Utter Destruction of the surrounding area because he cant control it anymore, the force is reacting to his overwhelming emotions and he absolutely just, beats his old master, he's stronger, and the last thing his old master sees is Castor standing over him with just this horrible horrible mix of heartbreak and anger on his face as he goes "You want me to be a villain? I'll show you a villain."
He flees, following the death of his master
Apyr probably feels, very very responsible for this outcome, a very "if I had noticed, if i had done something maybe they could have been saved" type thing Castor wouldn't become a Sith but he, doesnt know what to do anymore
Apyr does the only thing he can think of and begs Kha'variel to find him, he's better off in Kha'variel's hands than some sith that will manipulate him further, it's not ideal but Apyr's met Ashara, he knows Kha'variel can be trusted with someone like that, or so he thinks.
So fallen Jedi boy becomes Kha'variel's latest apprentice
Castor only agrees to it because it's the opposite of everything in his life thus far, being the apprentice of Darth Nox will give him the opportunity for revenge, and everything he needs to enact it(he's confused, because Kha'variel is nice to him, gentle, and there's another Jedi here but she's something in between by her own words and its confusing to him)
Kha'variel is of the opinion that if the kid wants to be a villain, that's his right, after what's been done to him, he said he'd clean up after Apyr's mess but he didn't specify how
Outside of the battlefield, Castor is very fragile, easily overwhelmed and prone to crying in response to niceness.
He’ll only go after those that mistreated him, those are deaths he can justify, at first, some gentle encouragement on Kha’variel’s end pushes him over that point, eventually.
Bonus:
In relation to Apyr regretting getting Kha’variel involved
He sees Castor on the battlefield and he's hesitating over the republic soldier he's got on the ground, he hasnt killed anyone since his former master, and then there's Kha'variel, a gentle hand on his shoulder whispering "You want revenge, dont you? He's part of what made you like this, remember."
and the moment Castor strikes the soldier down, is the moment he's truly lost to this. and Apyr feels sick with horror at what he's just witnessed Kha'variel do, he'd bring it up and for the first time he'd see that Kha'variel is, after all, still a sith, when his friend just smiles indulgently and goes
"It's his right, isnt it? after all that's been done to him, they're the ones that created a monster to begin with, he is owed his chance at revenge."
"but--"
"You asked me to pick up the pieces of a mess you helped create, didnt you? this wouldn't have happened if you'd done something before he was pushed over the edge, you must've sensed what he was feeling, but you didnt act, as Jedi do so often."
"I--" Apyr cant argue, there, he still feels guilty.
Kha'variel is gentle again when he nudges his friend and goes "You cant save everyone, sometimes you can only be there to pick up the pieces should they ask you to."
