It wasn’t often that Zamazenta ventured outside of the Slumbering Weald. It was far too dangerous—for him and for Zacian—but sometimes the knight in him couldn’t resist a patrol. He knew Zacian couldn’t scold him for it, either. She did the same thing.
Whenever one of them left, they made sure to only go out at night. They were far less likely to be spotted that way, even with their size. Still, the old warrior was cautious. He may have been strong, but he wasn’t at his full power without a fellow hero’s heart bonded with his own.
Seeing one of the human cities in the distance, he stopped. The harsh metal and smoke rising off of the buildings nearby always gave him pause. Zamazenta was not used to the cities of modern humans, and he wasn’t sure he ever would be.
His musing was cut short, though, as he heard footsteps behind him. Immediately, he turned, baring his fangs.
“Come no closer,” he growled.
