He didn't know why but he felt like it was the hardest to tell Emily. She had been the one to clock Ashton so early on, pining, yearning, teasing him for staring too long. She felt like their number one supporter before they were ever a thing, and now he felt like he was letting her down most of all. He had been successfully breaking the bad news to his friends, because March was gone and guess the bearer of bad news responsibility fell on Ash. It's taken more of a toll than he thought, having to tell people, explain why (when he barely understood why himself), reassure people that he was okay (he wasn't okay). But it's getting easier day by day. Hopefully easy enough to bite the bullet today.
They simply sat by the beach, taking some quiet time for themselves from their hectic lives, chatting up with an important friend of his. Ash tried not to think about the break up, instead meeting Emily with a smile, eyes no longer puffy from crying, mental headspace back on the summer camp, and now he just wanted to hear about her life instead. "How's work been? I know Google's been hectic right, haven't seen you stream in awhile," Ash asked, toes digging into the cold sand underneath.
