What's so funny to me, but very much Not Her is that Euphrie, a washerwoman by trade, was only a personal maid for the short time before the conclave because she whole ass just stole her deceased mom's identity for a few months. She was having an Awful Time as the sole personal maid to a noblewoman because she likes being invisible and nameless in a sea of other workers but work is work and she can't be picky when she's trying to survive after the fires of Halamshiral. Her mother's writ of service to a minor noble is safer than a writ of service from the palace in the middle of a civil war where the wrong allegiance to the throne can get you killed. Ending up the Inquisitor's personal maid is sort of an accident, mostly she's the only one out of the elven servants brave enough and tired enough of everyone pussyfooting around to just do it herself. No one really appoints her before Skyhold, that's when the position is solidified. She's just the only one not blinded by Heraldic Holiness of it all because someone still needs to make sure Their Worship has clean linens and their meals delivered in a timely manner by eyes weary of poisoners.

Euphrie being Protective in her own way to a female Lavellan specifically is Life to me. That is Her Lady and she knows that a Dalish elf isn’t prepared in the same way to deal with all these nobles and bullshit intrigue. Euphrie is no bard but she cut her teeth in Halamshiral, she knows how a servant fleet needs to be run and she won’t let anyone step over the Inquisitor because they aren’t knowledgeable to know what her rights and processes should be.
