Greaves gently grabbed Alice's hand as she stood up from her chair, pulling her back down on his lap, ignoring the pain on his side. "You know, I haven't forgotten." He said softly with an amused smirk, even if he was stuck until he gets better. Hand slip up, fingers running on her collar bone, sliding behind her neck before leaning towards Alice, giving her a kiss. His free hand reaching for his back to pull a box from behind a pillow, handing it to her after pulling away. "Happy birthday."
It was a miracle that he was alive. And that was the best birthday gift she could have ever asked for. She was getting up to get him another cushion when his hand closed around hers and tugged her closer, gentle but with an undeniable strength that shouldn’t be available to someone in his current condition. Inhaling sharply at suddenly finding herself in his lap, Alice was about to scold him when his words brought her pause, his smirk at odds with the softness of his voice.
That ghosting touch across her clavicle drew a sigh from deep within her chest, golden lashes lowering as she was lulled into his wonderful kiss. She should be more responsible. As a doctor, she shouldn’t let him strain himself like this while in recovery. But he was a master tactician and she was very easily distracted by the taste of his lips. Right then, with her hand over his chest and the strong pulse of his heart beating against her fingertips, she could be nothing but the woman who loved him.
Pulling away slowly, a touched smile tipped her lips as he handed her a birthday gift. He’d already done so much for her on the day before. One peek inside the box; however, had color rising to her cheeks. It was a set. From her favorite lingerie shop.
“Mister Greaves…” She used her doctor voice, lifting her gaze to meet his while trying to look professional and stern despite her blush. “You were not yet cleared for such strenuous activities.” Alice pointed out, but leaned in to kiss him herself, only parting when air came in need.
Touching her forehead to his, she brought a hand to caress his cheek. “But once you are, I’ll wear it for you.” She promised, sealing it with a tinier kiss. “Thank you, love.”
