Four Headcanons Meme

Knowing Thomas is like being constantly wrapped in a comfy sweater, and he and Molly find practically any opportunity to be affectionate, and that is practically any verse they’re in together. Yes, they hold hands. Yes, they share platonic kisses, and yes, they hug quite often. There are times where she’s curled up with him on the sofa with a good book, or in his lap discussing the world as they know it or would like for it to be.

There is hardly a man she’s known that has the patience that Thomas has. That said, he does have a temper, and so does she. I don’t think that they’ve ever fought, really, but they’ve certainly had very, very passionate debates.

Thomas has definitely had to drag Molly away from the beginnings of a fight, and he’s begun to recognize the signs of a fight brewing, and will either distract her, or carry her off (at great risk to his back).

In modern verses, they volunteer at animal shelters together and work hard to get them adopted. They’re also the nerds to go to museums together and probably have a book club, as well. They’ve also been told several times that they make a good couple, which to Molly’s glee, she usually gets to respond, “My wife thinks so, too”. (Down with heteronormativity!) If Thomas is ever embarrassed, he doesn’t show it.

Hate: 

“Thomas…meddles. I love the man, but he pokes and prods in many places you don’t want someone poking and prodding. He’s very good at it, too.”

Love:

“He cares. Genuinely cares. When he asks a question, he genuinely wants to know the answer. It might be one of the reason he pokes and prods so much.”

Miss:

“The hugs. He’s not afraid of affection–I haven’t seen anything like it before. It’s special.”

Poetry Meme

She didn’t have the heart to tell him that most days it felt as though she couldn’t breathe at all--that she was drowning in shallow water and people just continued to walk by without noticing. She didn’t have the heart to tell him that it would never feel enough.

Instead, she offered him a small smile. “How the hell did you get to be so smart, hm?” Molly stepped forward to wrap her arms around the much taller man’s middle. “And where have you been all my life?”

As long as Thomas believed in it...as long as he believed in her, perhaps, one day...

"There is nothing wrong with needing more than you are given," Thomas tells her, once he's successfully wrangled her into curling up with him for a while. His chin rests atop her head, and his voice is not sympathetic, but understanding. "It is not your fault that you feel unloved. And it isn't a sin to want to feel wholly loved, for once; to feel that you are /enough/." [ Soft time ]

She’d asked the question, but Molly had regretted the vulnerability almost immediately. It was different with Thomas, of course; she never actually had to ask the question or speak for him to read her like a book. He was good at diving right to the source and, however gently, exposing each of the things she was most insecure about. Why she was always so, so angry.

Molly remained silent for a moment longer, reveling in the comfort his hold provided. She wanted so badly to matter as much to others as they did to her, but perhaps that wasn’t something she deserved. That wasn’t something she dared say aloud; instead, she began to try and wriggle away from the affection.

“Speaking of love, were you aware that while some dolphins mate for life, they are in the minority?” She asked, and stood to pour them each a cup of tea. “They also mate for reasons other than just procreation--so basically, humans and dolphins are more similar than most think.”

[thomas] ‘ are you religious? ’

Interviewing Molly

“No.” The answer is immediate, instinctual after being asked or criticized for it for so long. She shrugged a little, offering a crooked smile in an effort to soothe the tone she’d taken. 

“I mean, no. I don’t actively believe in anything like that, but I can’t discount anything, either. People need something to believe in, whether it’s some deity or ghosts or...whatever.” She folded her arms over her chest. “I guess maybe a little if I believe in karma, but otherwise...”

[swallowpropriety] Gently takes both of Molly's hands and puts them on either side of his face. He'd shaved this morning: it makes him look younger, despite the grey creeping into his hair. "Feel," he insists, smiling. "I haven't been this smooth in years." [ MUSH HIM ]

“I disagree,” Molly replied, and grinned, “I think you have always been this smooth.”

Proud of her play on words, she obliged and brushed his cheeks, adoring, because she did adore Thomas. So few men were so open with affection and gentleness and unafraid of what it might look like in front of others; his indifference to how he is viewed is refreshing.

“Smooth,” She finally agreed, “But you’re missing something.” Standing on her toes, she pressed a kiss to his newly-shaven cheek. “There.”
