          █ Old friends, new friends, Sabrae clan members (including Wardens), fellow Dalish from other clans that he has known for a while, rivals/enemies, romantic interests set during Origins/Awakening (not necessarily sexual in nature, can be unrequited or starcrossed as well, they love each other but circumstances prevent it or they mutually agree it won’t work for some reason), long-term or past lovers (he’s very picky about this one), and an endgame relationship by the time of the Inquisition and beyond are all up in the air at the moment (02.27.2019). The only potential endgame relationship as of this moment is with @pcrseverance should they wish it.            █ While I’m still working on writing up his backstory, Arryn has been around in some fashion since the beginning of Origin. He’s a member of the same clan as the Dalish Warden, and at some point he made his way to the Free Marches and Kirkwall in an attempt to find his missing daughter and to track down his clan (which had migrated to the area outside of Kirkwall). Depending on circumstances, he would befriend Hawke or one of their friends, or be sent to keep an eye on Merrill, and would end up fighting alongside Hawke & Company during the rebellion (unless Hawke killed the Sabrae clan; if this happens in your Hawke’s story, Arryn will despise you and if he’s around at all it would be because of one of your companions).

Arryn is a hunter/gatherer for the clan, but he was also a storyteller and records-keeper before he initially was separated from the clan during the Blight.

If he was friendly with Hawke in Kirkwall, he will arrive at Skyhold with Hawke and stay behind as a representative regardless of Hawke’s survival. If he was not friendly with Hawke, he would have been with the Inquisition since Haven, arriving shortly before Corypheus’ attack.

For any events during the Blight itself, it’s unlikely he was a companion of the Warden unless they came across him by accident after he was separated from his clan. Any events during the 10+ year gap are up in the air.

Relationships with Canon Companions:

Just based on a few threads (that died ages ago because I was forced to go on hiatus for personal reasons) Arryn was friendly with Dorian, Sera, Zevran, and Fenris, and I like to imagine he’d be friendly with Varric and relatively friendly with Solas as well. In the one thread I had with an Anders it didn’t go well in spite of Arryn being pro-Mage given that his only surviving child is a Mage; Anders was exceptionally antagonistic toward him the entire conversation.

These however are also completely up in the air since everyone RPs the characters differently.

Everyone in the timeline for DA:O to DA:I sees this older, well put together, calm, responsible, and polite Arryn all well-dressed and patient and caring and willing to travel and befriend people of different races and beliefs as well as lay down his own life if it means keeping them safe.

What they missed was sass-mouthed, wild as fuck, tree-parkour, barefoot, human-hating teen to mid-twenties Arryn that would have been more keen to shoot a human on sight if they got too close to the clan encampment than to actually speak to them.

He’s grown.

Though he’s not above kicking his boots off and just parkour his way across the ramparts and rooftops in Skyhold, and has scared the shit out of at least one Dorian before by dropping onto the library banister from the floor above.

Origins era Arryn flirting, early on: *doesn’t...still in mourning*

Origins era Arryn, later on: *doesn’t leave, mostly just suggests that he wants to cuddle every so often because he’s touch/affection-starved...if you’re an elf*

DA2 era Arryn flirting: *always stands too close, constantly fretting over your well-being, playful banter that eventually progresses to flirtatious little comments if you aren’t catching on....if you’re an elf...most likely Fenris*

Inquisition era Arryn flirting: *sarcastic comments, makes certain you are sleeping and eating, the occasional suggestive comment or joke, a lot of physical contact (think leaning against your shoulder, holding on to your arm, other subtle things like that), but at the same time mostly being terrified of letting you know how he actually feels because everyone he loves seems to leave or die*

Bonus - Arryn flirting with Cullen @pcrseverance: *sitting on lap, holding Cullen’s head still so he’s looking him dead in the eye* “I don’t know if you have noticed, but I fancy you.”

I didn't want to flood the tags in that qotd post so here's some more thoughts on pain tolerance in my muses:

Ryce is kind of a glutton for pain to be honest. He's a very up-close-and-personal kind of fighter and so taking wounds is an everyday thing for him. Unless the wound is nearly fatal, he's probably powering through it and will let the healers fuss over him later.

Xadai has an extremely high pain tolerance, but that's only because he deals with chronic pain on a near-constant basis. It's become an everyday thing for him to deal with and so he just Deals with it. He does get grumpy when his pain is really bad, though.

& picking a newer muse bc why not: Kodran is a Warrior by name and trade. Pain is nothing new to him and is just part of the job. He doesn't typically enjoy pain, but in the midst of battle, he doesn't let pain stop him if he can help it. (He is a big BIG baby when he's forced into bed rest by a healer though. And an even bigger baby when he's sick)

A part of you still holds onto the belief that whatever happens past life - can only be something comforting - akin to a warm embrace or a long rest , the same type of serenity you experience on occasion - when you get to lay in the midst of an empty field - on bright summer days , you believe Death is something like that - except it lasts , for as long as it can . YOUR FIRST DEATH WAS THE CAUSE OF All that you have now been going through . -- You have died since , a million times and more , each feeling worse and more DISSATISFYING than the last . Your death has never been a release - more than it was just a temporary hold back , a pause from going forward , and you loathe it with everyone fiber - that's even left of your own original being . REPEATED RECKLESSNESS Brings you to Hell & then back , the sight The Primordial Sea made of blood engraved into your gaze permanently , it haunts you even when you are well and alive - for whatever period of time that may be .

You die , and you come back , you don't come back wrong - you come back the same each and every time ,

leaving you feeling as though you have never made even an ounce of progress in your life , you begin doubting if you have even aged since all of this began . --- & Yet a part of you keeps holding onto the idea that just one of those deaths will succeed , that one will be so fatal enough , you won't return . - Unfortunately for you , this has not come to fruition yet . YOU SERVE YOUR PURPOSE AS A TOOL , Just a device , a driving force - not even a proper weapon . A goal - which by now has been stolen from you - being the sole reason for this .

You die , and you come back - is it wrong ? it feels wrong , but you can't tell if it truly is

BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT YET ALLOWED TO DIE , you - as you currently are - are here to kill your father , that is the sole thing you should focus on , you are allowed only less than brief distractions inbetween . ----- THE PLAN IS RUNNING IT'S COURSE , not yet near it's end , not even halfway . But everything that comes with it has been set in stone from the very beginning - both for them , and for you . THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE AFTER - NOT YOUR AFTER , THAT IS . Hell is a part of nature , so they told you - it will do as it should . The YOU part of it all ends when you have finished your task , and you are just as aware of this as everyone & everything else is . Kill your father , no longer because you just WANT to , but because you HAVE to . YOU HAVE TO , FOR THE BETTERMENT OF EVERYTHING , and so you realize what this boils down to , what this means for you .

what horror trope are you ?

THE FINAL GIRL -- you're very tired, aren't you? thrashing and fighting and trying to survive– it has taken its toll, but that has not stopped you. you'll continue to gnaw and scream and bare teeth until you can free yourself from this mess, even if it means being the last one left. there is rest at the end of this hard battle, i promise you. there is a time when the fight will be over– but fighting is all you know, isn't it?

CANON 001. - But I’m just still reposting old ones .

Annie suffers with equal parts TOUCH REPULSION & TOUCH STARVATION . Because unfortunately the two don’t really cancel one another out  . – often even if there is well established trust , she will will feel incredibly hesitant towards the idea of letting herself being touched in any way - whether it’s unprompted , or something told and reassured , & no matter how gentle it is - her flinching is inevitable , and just as often she will likely snarl & growl if she sees hands reaching for her -- even that is best case scenario , instead of her snapping jaws at instinctively . This does become worse with others who she is unfamiliar with , in any case an uninvited attempt will make her go from just repulsed , into leaving sizeable bite marks on anyone . -- It’s a type of hurt that’s in her nature , and regardless if she feels incredibly apologetic after , it will still happen . But It’s not necessarily that she would hate the idea of being vulnerable enough for it - rather just the fact that her first , almost instinctual thought in most ( if not all cases ) : is that she is going to get hurt . There is an insane amount of repressed fear in her , and even more guilt , all on top of the abuse she continues to experience both from her father & the demon lords she is familiar with . The idea that anyone would actually want to hold her with genuine care & kindness is still sort of alien to her , and it’s taking her tremendous time getting used to it --- Because in the end she will always live behind the facade that she is undeserving of it all , especially after spending years of leaving claw marks on almost everything she cared for & about prior-- and she ends up with a bit of “vice versa” about the concept of “being allowed to touch someone in return” . . She made up an image of herself that leaves her to be considered very unapproachable if not straight up prickly , and she will very adamantly stick to it to “ protect herself “ ,  and by now it’s like a habitual tunnel vision , so it’s a challenge to tell her otherwise ,  But it’s not impossible to get thru her shell , she is very much capable of tolerating physical contact ,  in fact she is almost desperate for it more often than she could even physically say , It doesn’t take long to soften up long once the warmth and that genuine care & tenderness is there , and at time as little of a gesture it may be she will hold onto it for so long , almost clinging to the feeling with tooth and nail . – it will not take much for her to cry about it either .
