[This is maybe not unpopular per se, but it’s not a view that’s very common. IMO Dean was never a Knight of Hell. It’s an assumption that a lot of us jumped to, but it doesn’t stand up against logical examination of the lore or events.- The Knights were personally picked (and upgraded from just common demon status, it is implied) by Lucifer himself. Luci’s in the cage, so that couldn’t have happened when Dean became a demon.- The MoC isn’t what makes someone a Knight, otherwise Abaddon and all the rest would’ve needed to have the mark as well - and they obviously didn’t. The mark, and being a Knight, are not connected.- Dean being a Knight (or even the possibility of it) is never mentioned once in the show, ever. They solely call him a demon. The only thing that deviates from this even slightly is when he says that he has ‘more juice than just a demon’ or whatever the line was, I don’t remember exactly, but he’s obviously bragging about the mark and not any Knight status.- When he’s a demon, Dean also tries to goad Sam into using Ruby’s knife on him, and we’ve seen that it doesn’t do anything to Knights so that wouldn’t make much sense. 

Also, I feel like the ritual to turn a demon into a human again probably wouldn’t work on Knights, but that’s just personal speculation honestly.]
