Jill supposes that Clive has a point. They've made it this far, gone through so much. While the end is near and seems utterly bleak…no matter what happens, at least some of them will make it out on the other side, right? They have to. If not for their sakes then for everyone else's.

Even still, it feels like there's a certain finality to all of this, that when Clive and Joshua and Dion go to Origin, not all of them will return. She swallows hard, her brows furrowed, and she sighs, nodding. “Of course,” she murmurs, resting her hands on top of his, trying not to show how utterly distressed she is. “Just--I know you can't promise that you'll come back, but please try your best.”

alex and i have decided that jill and clive have 3 beautiful children, 2 girls and a boy, and the boy is the youngest and they name him elwin 🥺

Jill paces, obviously nervous about something. She's had a lot on her mind lately, what with everything going on...but for other reasons as well. Nausea, exhaustion, headaches. She has every reason to believe that she may be with child, but she hasn't told anyone, least of all Clive. To tell him and have him have another thing to worry about on top of everything else feels selfish. It would be better to tell him when this is all said and done, but she feels like if she doesn't tell someone, she might explode.

When she sees Joshua passing by, she quickly walks over to him and gently taps him on the shoulder. "Joshua...I'm sorry to bother you, but we really need to talk." She looks anxious, twirling her fingers around each other and her heart pounding in her ears. "It's rather important. Could we, um, go somewhere more private, maybe?"

Jill knows that it is extremely forward of her to think that she can speak to Elwin. The Archduke of Rosaria is a very busy man, after all, but there are many things she's been overhearing that have been troubling her. She knows she ought to be thankful in her position as their ward. They have treated her kindly and with the utmost respect when they could've treated her like an actual prisoner. If they wish to marry her off, then so be it, but part of her isn't entirely sure if he knows about Annabella's plans.

"E-excuse me? Your grace? I'm sorry, I--" Jill quickly curtsies when he turns to face her, her heart pounding in her chest. For all she knew, he could be off to an important meeting, or to discuss something with Clive or Joshua, but this is also something important to her. "If..you aren't too busy, could..could I talk to you about something I've overheard? It's been eating away at me..and I wasn't sure who else to bring it to, since I think it's a matter that may also concern you."

“Joshua? Do you have a moment?”

Jill smiles shakily from where she stands in the doorway of the library, looking very nervous, which is wholly unlike herself. But she has to tell someone the secret that she's been harboring for a little over a month now. It'll be harder and harder to hide it soon enough, so she figures she ought to tell Joshua now. She doesn't want Clive to know. Not yet. Not until she absolutely can't keep it a secret anymore. Because she knows if she tells him, then he'll forfeit everything they've been working on, or, at the very least, delay it.

“I just have something I wish to speak to you about. Alone.” She emphasizes the alone, letting out a soft breath. “We can go to my quarters. Or yours. Whichever you would prefer. Is that alright?”

Jill feels a little awkward. Anabella, despite her obvious dislike towards Jill and her family, for some reason still feels obligated to teach her the proper ways of court. She doesn't know why. Part of her thinks that maybe the duchess is planning on marrying her off as soon as the opportunity presents itself. The thought settles in the back of Jill's mind and leaves a bitter taste on her tongue, but she won't be mad at any chance she gets to be close to Clive.

They awkwardly clasp hands, stepping back and forth as Anabella harshly corrects them every now and then. She huffs, obviously frustrated, looking up at Clive with a frown. “Why is she so mean?” she mutters, sticking her tongue out a little. “I feel like I have two left feet.”

Jill watches their children quietly, a small smile on her face. For moments like this, all their sacrifices are worth it. The trauma never truly leaves. The nightmares happen less often now but have never once left. Sometimes she wakes up and half wonders if everything up until now was some dream, that she's still in the Iron Kingdom under their cruel thumb. It's not a dream, though. It's real. This is real: Clive, Elizabeth, Charlotte, Elwin, all real and tangible things that make all of her struggles seem like nothing for the sake of this happiness.

So she laughs a little, giving Clive's hand a gentle squeeze. Down by the shore, their children squeal and laugh and chase each other. It's a life she never thought she would be capable of. “Oh, just thinking, I suppose. Did you ever think that we would have a life like this?” Because she knows that she didn't. Once upon a time, happiness seemed like something always out of reach. “To know that our children don't have to suffer as we did makes me infinitely happy.”
