MWAHAHAHAHAHHA i love aus and three-sentence things. it's so freaking hard and fun XD
Private Detective:
Jack had had a lot of people come into her rinky dink little office over the years, but she had to admit she'd never had someone so interesting sitting across from her--or so large. He seemed to almost fill the room with his presence despite the fact that he was hunched over in his chair with bruises and cuts covering his skin and a sadness etched into the lines of his face. Jack had learned, over the years, how to distance herself from her clients, learn to step away from their emotions and simply get the job done to the best of her ability, but there was something about the man before her that had her hand reaching out to cover the bandaged and calloused once curled up on her desk, and smiled her toothiest smile, "We'll find her."
Con Artists:
It was her smile--that was what it had to be. No one would distrust the smile that curved her features into the brightest and most innocent of faces. Jack only had to smile at the mark and they would be putty in her hands, but the smile she gave him, when they were both squirreled away in whatever hideout or hotel for that week, exhausted from the work they'd had to do just to get food in their stomachs, that smile was the one Gaius loved the best--because it was just for him.
Time Travellers:
"Haven't we been here before, I feel like we've been here before, there's a distinct aura of 'been here in the last twenty years' hanging over the city and it's making my nose twitch."
Gaius didn't reply, simply gave her the same brow raise he always did when he thought Jack was missing something very important, finally grunting out, "Hitler."
"Ohhhhh, right, and you didn't want to go to Poland that year--shows you how much you know--World War Who?"
One-of-them-is-a-librarian-and-the-other-has-a-really-overdue-book:
"Okay, so I know I told you I would have it today, and I was fully prepared to bring it back, but you have to understand that I need the book for my paper on political activists in the nineteen thirties, and this one is actually full of all of this knowledge and understanding of the policies that grew and fell apart during the Great Depression and you should definitely read it when I return it so you can understand just how much information and wonder there is in the world and--why are you looking at me like that?
.........Okay, fine, I lost it."
"That'll be 6.75."
