Niasma
Once known as a beachy paradise, Niasma was known for its reflective and translucent waters, said to be unparalleled elsewhere in the world. It remained a rather sparse and small-knit community until travelers became acquainted with the healing properties inherent in its ocean (which connected to the neighboring forked river of The Saltanas and is still debated as the reason for its special nature). Even so, the population was too inexperienced in handling such business and thus had many free-loaders that haggled for cheap residence to obtain immense quantities of their sole resource. Incidents were also frequent on the grounds, with many being robbed or seriously hurt when retaliating against the occupation of outsiders.
It wasn’t until the investments of one Geanstell Sambeles that the town was finally able to endorse and solidify their claims on the waters along with a new economic stimulant. The Niasma Resort would be one of the few landmarks with several amusement rides that were engineered in up and coming artificers. It was also made with the intention of attracting family units and also easing tensions among races with its planned community hotel and spa. Unfortunately, it was in the last days of its development that the town would meet a sudden drought. Discouraged, most of the workers abandoned the project seeing as the drought was not letting up. Such a disaster was only followed by the Niasma Incident, which in most archives was very brief to avoid perpetuating genasi-specific violence.
The sole account was from Geanstell’s son, Riagan, who detailed that he witnessed the entire land devoid of all its moisture save for a large storm cloud. It is then that more analysis was tacked on, all fingers pointing to the involvement of a water genasi. Now the only known property and occupants are the owners of a small gift shop who had bought the remaining land from Riagan. Otherwise, the place has since been abandoned for about 60 years and no further interest has been sparked regarding the location.
