(Tavis translator: there is nothing here because frankly, he’s too emotionally inept to acknowledge that he frankly sees a lot of himself in her, which is part of the reason he likes to antagonize her so much. Someone with great power and a free spirit, who struggles with the fear she will hurt others with it. And likely already has. This hits a chord in him, and despite his relentless bullying, he certainly sees a kindred spirit in her)

This...this is unacceptable. 

Tavis rears back and gasps, hair bristling in a whirling rush of static as his eyes go wide.

Excuse me, you clearly don’t know what it is you say. I, Lightning, am of the most courageous, bold and magnificently fearless beings to walk this very earth. Nary a foe or challenge exists that will not be conquered inevitably by his might and prowess. These are very real and logical facts, and it is apparent that you are most confused.

This is what Tavis considers saying for about a nanosecond. 

...Instead he shrieks, tackles the poor girl to the floor with about 56 kilowatts of electric fury, and begins pulling her hair like a wrathful six year old. 

“FOUL SLANDEROUS WENCH!!!! CEASE THIS DEFAMATION LEST YOU CARRY IT TO YOUR GRAVE!!!!!!”

I wonder, do the boys have a nickname for Terra like how they call Robin the masked one? (Except Santa I mean. XD)

hmm...this is a surprisingly tricky question actually!! the boys are kind of...weird when it comes to their nicknames? like it’s honestly just how they refer to people after living up in the clouds and not really ever being INTRODUCED to people for a number of years. names carry a lot of importance to them, but nicknames can be handed out really easily based on physical characteristics

HOWEVER...once they start knowing more people that gets harder...because unless you happen to be the only one in your group that’s GREEN or wears a mask or a cloak or is made of metal, it’s gonna start getting harder to tell which one you mean when you say something like “blonde one” 

i think for the most part the nicknames tend to really STICK when there’s something very distinct about someone’s appearance? whereas usually they just DON’T refer to people by names that much. so...well. santa absolutely stuck on tavis’s end i’m so sorry terra, but they probably call her all sorts of things! 

.....maybe short one. not because she’s particularly short--since im pretty sure there are members of the team SMALLER than her--but because she gets all HUFFY about it and its hilarious, and well, gan means it affectionately at least!!

"I never thought...you'd trust me with your brother's life. I'm glad I could help because I know...what it's like to lose someone precious. And I guess I like you with a smile even if you've annoyed me," she said, reaching to squeeze his shoulder.

Truth be told, the incident strikes a precarious balance in Tavis’s memory: the act had been significant, certainly, but to think on it winds his stomach into knots and elevates his heart to a panicked, relentless tempo. He doesn’t like to think of it, how then, for a moment Gan had laid so very still, and perhaps, he had thought--

...He doesn’t like to think of it. But there is no changing that she was there, as it happened. She...helped. Something honor bound within him simply can’t ignore that. Tavis sighs, a quiet breath on his lips that hitches faintly at Terra’s hand on his shoulder. It would be easier to say something snide--remark that he hadn’t had a choice in trusting her--or perhaps that she cannot claim to know what he has lost. But that is cruel. Far too cruel, even for him. 

Instead he must take the higher road, it seems. For a moment the booming, egocentric veil is pulled back. Tavis looks plainly at his hands and speaks softly. 

“It is troubling that you know as well. Such things are...difficult.”

A tremendous understatement, but to press further is to ghost around his own losses, and that will not do at all. 

...

Ack! The window for sincerity has come and gone now, and the gentle stillness is growing most unpleasant! Tavis turns to Terra after a moment and promptly...sticks his tongue out. 

“Bleeeeeh.”

Accompanying this gesture: a faint, electric shock.

The embrace is wholly uncalled for–and unlike Gan, who is prepared and eager to accept any form of affection at all times, Tavis finds himself baffled by the sudden hug. Maybe a little suspicious? He isn’t sure. 

“…what is this? Do you intend to squeeze the wrongdoing out of us? I do–oof!!”

Gan is more than happy to silence whatever asinine comment is on his brother’s lips by returning the hug with crushing force. He beams, voice warm. 

“It is a pleasure to see you once again, my friend!”

so bad. i’m snickering they’re both so bad. they don’t--like you know how most people have seen a lot of people kiss in either real life or shows or something? 

they don’t even have that. they have no idea what to do. it’s hilarious. they’ll get better if it’s something they’re like...actually DOING but at first? oh my god it’s so funny. 

💘- What is your muse like in ships

i went into this a little here, though idk if it’s cheating to link a headcanon from a little while back. in terms of how it would affect demeanor and overall behavior (in a really good relationship, which is the assumption i’m making), tavis is really the one who changes and develops a lot more in terms of how to express empathy and concern for others and allow himself to be vulnerable. this isn’t to say there’s no development for gan in that sense though! having a person to confide in, platonically or romantically really helps him sort through the more unhealthy thought patterns and methods of coping with guilt and fear. he learns a lot quicker that it’s important to prioritize yourself so you can support others to your best ability, and overall they both just...i think it grounds them so much more. it’s something that would feasibly play a big role in having them recognize a place as a home.
