　Yato is not a God of War, per say. 　Not the same kind as Bishamon, anyway.

　He’s often referred as a magatsukami—translated as a spirit of calamities and misfortune—and also called a “god of depravity” by Father once. Of course, magatsukami are often deemed of the cause of conflict and catastrophic events like these, but what this means is only that he’s more like “the bringer of war and deaths” rather than “the bringer of excellence in the battlefield”. Bishamon is the later, Yato is (supposed to be) the former.

　When it comes to how he bonds with others, his little experience in relationships and very poorly educated social skills makes it difficult for him to keep one at all.

　Just like Hiiro, he’s very possessive and jealous, to the point of getting rather violent with people probing on “his property”. Overly affectionate, if one gives him the prompt and the trust for it.

　But, in opposite to her, he does know hurting the other person is not okay. So he’ll likely seek for ways to make “his person” happy, even though these ways may come off as creepy or weird. Protecting them would be his other priority, as well.

　He might just need to be lectured on how to show affection correctly.

　In regards of Yaboku and relationships (romantic ones specially, if not all), he possesses little to no experience about the matter. He might not have even been in one at all, with not only his focus being on trying to keep his existence and fulfill his role as a God of Calamity, but he also was prohibited of having real contact with others--humans, spirits or other gods.

　If asked, though, he’s likely to give vague responses; he doesn’t see relevant for others to know about his romantic life at all.

　–On another note, how he knows about relationships was likely learned during his curious days as a kid. Just part of the things he learned about the world, by observing and reasoning.

　The reason why Yaboku continued naming shinki, even after his experience with Sakura and through Father’s warning, was no other than to seek for his own sense of independence—the first steps he gave on his own to stray from what he was told to be or do.

　These shinki, bearing only his given name and serving only to him, were to be used for different purposes than Hiiro’s: no human-killing, if he could avoid it, and likely jobs he got on his own that required a weapon or support, but didn’t involve taking a human life at all.

　Yaboku is ambidextrous, with a strong tendency (and preference) leaning towards the right hand. 

　He can, though, absolutely fight using any or both of his hands with quite the skill. He’s a “combat god”, after all.

- 〔 Headcanon #8 〕

　Both Yaboku and Hiiro are abused children.

　The outcomes and ways are different for each side, but both do share the same source.

　Both cases received physical (ayakashi beat-ups) and emotional abuse.

　Yaboku’s highly manipulated through his dependence for being acknowledged, and his fear for disappointing others. He's also constantly reminded of why he was created, always told that he doesn't bring any good to anyone, silently forbidden on his right as a god to have a shrine or followers on his own, and thus fed up on his fear to completely abandon the "source" of his existence, his "lifeline".

　Hiiro's not treated as a person at all, but as an object or a weapon. "This belongs to your father. I'm giving her to you", is how she was first presented to Yaboku. "I belong to father" says to him once. She can’t (and isn’t likely going to) strive for more than that, mostly because of the name placed upon her by Father.

　Hiiro genuinely cares for Yaboku/Yato.

　But just as he does, she doesn't know the correct way to express said affection.

　She’s jealous and possessive, and wants him to stay with her and their father for the rest of their existence; but all of this is done because she doesn’t know better. She doesn’t find it wrong.
