// these tend to get far, so, care to reblog this if you’re willing to RP with an independent Fallout 2 (with 3, New Vegas and 4 verses) Goris, the Intelligent Deathclaw companion? Just be sure to read the rules first before interacting!
New theme bg is up :D i have to fix my verses and info because teen wolf went in a different direction than i had this blog set up to go in. SO... for the time being... all the canon things (and divergent things upon request~)
You know, i’ve really thought about trying to take on a new muse. Really--
but honestly, Adam has just been so profound that it’s really hard to carry on without him. I would be very unhappy if I stopped writing/dropped/deleted him. Just now I was kinda thinking about it, but really I can’t. It’s strange.
I’m just sad because those who I once wrote with have moved on, and I feell ike I’m just stuck here.
Oh, stilll on Adam huh?
How...exciting... * not really*
I’m glad to be able to talk to some of you just a little bit. I’m getting close to having his backstory renovated so maybe I can reinvent my character, but it just won’t compare to all the interactions and ships I had in the past.
I feel like a missed out and lost a lot. Ugh. dumb me
Could you do me a favor and sign this petition? It needs 1000 signatures by tonight, we are about 150 people shy from making a difference. It doesn’t matter where you live, you can use a spam email account if you want it just needs to reach 1000.
The reason why?
[ see below, it is a GIANT explanation that barely touches on some things nad it may be a bit jumbled only because I am frantic at this point]
Stop Hy-vee from ruining my city and it’s heritage. This is the “ Walmart” type store that will suck the blood out of everything.
I’ve grown up in the same place, same house, same city my entire life. I know every building, I’ve gone to school, worked had family and friends live here. My mom is the same exact scenario, she grew up in the same house I am in now, and my grandmother lived majority of her life here. My house was built in the early 1920′s and is almost 100 years old.
I have a lot of history here. Growing up, going to school we had projects that talked about the history of our city and I was always very proud to present mine because my city is unique in the way that we have preserved most of the houses and buildings that have been put here. We have a historic charm that makes us exceptional, and on top of that we are a suburb, so it is even more special.
We’ve managed to preserve our downtown buildings and reuse them, this makes us quite efficient and when people come to visit use for our 5 star restaurants ( one being Travail known nation-wide, and pig at my pizza) those who come see us, see that we are this special town that maintains, preserves but also puts new thriving business into the structures.
It is important to our heritage as a town to keep these buildings. We have a historical society that has a house full of history, from pictures to old school uniforms. For me, this is incredibly meaningful, because I was born, raised and still currently live here--along with my mother.
Now there are some new folk who have come in, and decided to place themselves on the planning commission for the city. They belong to 4 wards that section off my town, and they claim to represent us, but they don’t really understand our depth, and our bond to the past.
So what they want to do, is come in here and place commercial business that could hurt all our citie’s mom and pop shops. The shops that have been there since the beginning of these city, that use the old buildings.
On top of that, there is a building that was created mid-century by famous architects that once was used as a movie theatre. It was the talk of the town, the place to be-- it is a great part of our history that we wish to preserve. Even celebrities like Prince went there! ( Prince came from Minneapolis/ which we are suburb of)
Now, about 17 years ago, this theatre we shut down... And the people that owned it let it rot. There was no ordinance or citation for letting it become “blight”, yet if residence let their houses fall into that state they would have letters of ordinance to fix their yards. But no, not for this--and so many people who are new come to live here who do not understand that this building holds as much importance as the rest of my city, claim it ot be an eye sore. Claim that it needs to be ripped down, that the history means nothing.
Now the past 19 months there has been a group who has stopped at nothing to try and revive this theatre. I am in this group. We believe in trying to maintain my city’s heritage by keeping this building where it stands. ( despite a mall being built around it, ruining it in the first place) We have obtained a grant worth $10,000 that will hire a historian to come and help put this building on the registry of historical places/landmarks so that those who wish to tear it down are stopped from doing so.
The application is already in the process, and it may take several months before it can go through, but once it does... Our efforts will be up for more grants that will help renovate, reinvent the space and make it into an events venue.
Some folks that are new to my city, or that have not done their reading have expressed their concerns of it being a “theatre” though it is not true that we are making it a theatre again, rather a place for people who wish to rent it out and use it for whatever their reasons may be ( wedding, concert, conventions etc)
But....
In the midst of all our efforts, and the application taking time, a new developer has come in from out of state. This developer claims that it wants to saturate our grocery market by adding all of their new stores ( pushing our home chain of grocers) to place their giant big box store, and where do you guess they want to place this big box?
Right in place of OUR theatre.
This “ new development” takes energy, they won’t even think to reuse the buildings that areo n site, they would rather tear it down. Not just to place a grocer, but a gas station, clinic and what ever else Hy-vee likes to put in.
It is despicable, and they swoop in right before our preservation efforts, dangling dollar signs in front of the city council and planning commission.
Are we really so low to accept this? There was already a mall there, with a grocer ( a Rainbow Foods) that ended up leaving it’s empty shell of a building sitting in front of the theatre, and now Hy-vee wants to come and replace it all. Not to mention a gas station means digging into the ground for the tank, and underneath this area is allegedly a swamp. It’ll be a complete mess!! And all for convenience.
There is literally a grocery store just up the street for about a mile. There is absolutely no reason for us to need another store like this, a store that sells just about everything --that we fear will work against the rest of our town. WE have a meat store that will lose customers, a bakery that will lose and this store even has a restaurant inside of it.
This threatens just about everything! Not only that but there have been similar scenarios in other near and far cities.
A big box company wants to tear down old development ( waste energy, materials and non-environment friendly) to put their dollar signs into an area, and what happens when they start oh nothing... But not long after, they raise taxes on the city, and if the city refuses... Then they leave.
They have made claims about wanting to place a certain amount of their stores into our region, and this only means that they wish to saturate and drive out the “ competition” and once they do so, and there is no one else ... They raise prices.
This has happened in other cities, and now it is happening to ours and they are ripping apart our heritage in the process.
Please don’t let big box ruin my city, we are not meant for big commercial businesses. It is already very hard to look at the giant ass CVS ...But now this?
Before, the city discussed placing a co-op store there, which would reuse the buildings. This idea was a great one! but the owners of the land there declined.
But Hy-vee comes in, and now they are all accepting. And they want to demo by october!!
This may possible go in before the application is processed!
They PAVED PARADISE TO PUT UP A PARKING LOT. That song is basically where I am coming from.
This is what I believe in. This will ruin our city if we go through this. If there is any way to stall demo before that application is processed, just so there is a way to stop them for a little while till we can dig up some other solutions. Then this petition is the way.
Please, you barely know me in real life, you don’t know my city I know-- but if you care about me, then please help and sign. Pass this on.
