[[ Time for my Hawks backstory finally because I’ve been a lazy shit long enough! ]]
Hawks came out of an affair. His mother was a single woman with the same mutant quirk as her son, she was a wannabe singer and was only in the very beginning stages of her singing career. She met a man that was a little older than she was and had fallen for him. What she didn’t know was he was already married and this man had been cheating on his actual wife for awhile now. In the end, she was really just a mistress and didn’t know about it. She eventually ended up pregnant with Hawks and was so excited and happy to be having a baby. But of course, the man was anything but happy, but simply pretended to be. When his wife found out, she was absolutely FURIOUS. They had never had children together, so she felt robbed of her chance at motherhood because of this mistress her husband had. And due to both of their anger, they devised a plan.
Murder. Wait until the child was born, take them for themselves and take the mother out of the picture. So they waited and waited. Finally once Hawks was born, the plan was set in motion. The wife waited in the mother’s apartment while she was away at the hospital, the husband stayed with her at the hospital the whole time naturally. He brought her back home and once the baby was safely put aside, that’s when they pounced. They violently murdered Hawks’ biological mother and took all of the things for the baby and high-tailed it out of there. Police and investigators were unable to find who had killed the woman, and there was no trace of her newborn anywhere and simply assumed the child had been taken and killed elsewhere most likely. He’s still filed under the missing children of that year.
They had paid people to change the baby’s last name so no one would catch on (only they have an original birth certificate), but even then they were highly cautious. As he was growing up, Hawks wasn’t really allowed to have friends and would be scolded if he did. His parents neglected him and treated him rather badly due to the both of them still really not liking that he wasn’t their kid. And he wasn’t allowed to tell anyone much of anything unless they were teachers, out of fear that someone may know something and revealing everything they had done.
But now that they were stuck with this kid, they figured it was best to get their money’s worth out of him. They forced him to work hard and basically ‘groomed’ him to become a hero. Once he was a hero, they guilted him and manipulated him into giving them money every month because ‘they were the reason he was able to be a hero’. His relationship with the both of them is horrible and he practically refuses to talk about them, only acknowledging their existence when he gives them money.
