Isabel “Shelly” Sánchez, Bisexual/Aromantic, 5′2″

creative, persistent, leader, pigheaded, merciless, egotistic

In her younger years, Shelly worked as a sailor out of her hometown’s port. After joining Team Aqua she dropped most of her mannerisms as a sailor (though if she isn’t mindful of it she’ll slip back into it.) Entirely loyal to Archie and his goals. Cares more for the grunts than she lets on. Broskies with Matt.

After Archie dissolved Team Aqua, Shelly returned to life on the open sea. She soon amassed a new crew and took to raiding ships. Her activities were restricted to the ocean, seeming to have given up life on land all together. (on newer tides verse)

{MIGHTYENA} Shelly’s long-term constant companion. The two are of one mind, enough so that superstition around the base claims they read each other’s thoughts.

{WALREIN} Never far from hand when Shelly leaves home base. Walrein is the pirate’s powerhouse.

{CARVANHA} None of the Carvanha seen with Shelly are her Pokémon. She takes it upon herself to individually train the Carvanha given out to Aqua grunts.

{POPPLIO} (on newer tides) Popplio’s family group was lost to poachers. Shelly’s ship arrived in time to save the youngling. As it was too young to survive on its own, Shelly brought it back with her.

{ZUBAT} (on newer tides) One of the many Zubat that inhabited the cavern Shelly uses as  base. It took up residence in Shelly’s cabin, and she never chased it out.

Headcanon 02

Orientations

Bisexual aromantic. She’s very sex positive and happily jumps from partner to partner. One night stands suited her lifestyle both before and after joining with Archie. They became her norm quite early on in her sex life. Mostly, she views it as a fun way to pass the time or blow off steam. However, she does recognize it (and enjoys it most) as a power play.

Post-game verse

A number of years after Team Aqua and Team Magma were disbanded, rumors started coming in from ports across multiple regions. Pirate raids along coastal communities had lessened while certain bounties were claimed by an anonymous party. At the same time, several diplomatic ships had been raided.

It soon came to light that the events were connected. Though reports varied, the agreement was that a single sea-based entity was responsible. Reports changed back and forth from a fleet of ships to a single boat. Targets changed as frequently as the reports, but only ships on the open water were attacked. Ships at port were safe, and raids never occurred on land.

Shelly’s new crew took great care to ensure their activities couldn’t be traced to their captain. Normally one who would thrive on the credit, Shelly recognized the dangers ex grunts of Aqua would find themselves in if she was linked to the new string of crimes. She alternated between raids on pirates and region sanctioned ships as the whim took her.

Her travels soon took her to cold waters, where she found a place to hide her people. Shelly made pacts with other sea captains to allow free passage in exchange for goods. Poachers always draw her ire and are the only people she is unwilling to compromise with. She soon became known as the Sunrise Queen, a name she happily gave to her ship.

Headcanon 01

Pokémon Communication

Like many pet owners, Shelly often communicates with her Pokémon via mimicking the sounds they make. Mighyena is the easiest, since growls and yips are sounds any dog owner can replicate. Shelly doesn’t stop there, however, as she’ll bellow low in her throat with Walrein and even gnash her teeth at the Carvanha she trains.

Anyone catching her in the act is one of the few things that will fluster her.

         She’s heard them behind her, her Emma and the far clumsier          seeming pirate she’d become doe-eyed over.  In  all  honesty          it’d been torture to watch her own sister succumb to his charm.          He was nothing but a man hardened by the ocean-- incapable of         LOVE. She had so much more to offer her. She’d see it when          the time was right, relying on that thought had never been a          problem for her. She knew the day would come when she’d          realize where her real place was. So when a pair of footsteps          gets lost, the two of them become separated, she comes to          a halt finally, an icy glance over shoulder.
