"Find me a mermaid, and you won't 'ave ta live another day under this big top."
The freckled male could do nothing but cling to those words with all the hopes and fears he had left. His father, ever the gambler that he was, owed a countless amount to the famed Ring Leader of Circus Cassiculus, and after his death, his son was already caught in an intricate web that was inescapable until this very day.
With a new found vigor, Remi roamed the sea side town, asking the locals where once might be able to find one of these "mermaids," until he found himself in a circular cove not too far from the circus itself. Crystalline water lapped against the nearly white shore, a sight that almost brought the boy to a halt, but his goal outweighed any urge to waste time.
The waters were clear of any and all signs of mermaids, but maybe, just maybe, if he waited one might show up, and with that in mind, Remi found himself lounging behind one of the many large rocks that protruded from the sand itself, set on sitting for as long as was needed to catch this creature.
Yet as the summer heat coupled with the sea breeze washed over him, the male was soon lulled into a light slumber, stray locks of brown hair falling into his face.
