“Foolish.”
Eyes brimming with tears as he stared back at the male standing over him. Julian’s fingers gripped the hem of his shirt as the single word was directed at him. “Foolish?” He repeated, questioning if he had heard right, despite knowing deep down that he did. His heart clenched in pain as his mind grew numb from the words exchanged before.
“For thinking that I could trust you?” He whispered, a lone tear escaping from its confinements before roughly swiping at it. He despised showing signs of weakness, but now that he had, the hatred directed at him only increased. “I told you everything,” he spoke, words raising a notch as he stiffly stood up, “I thought that you would understand. That it was all right to open up to you.”
Maybe the latter was right, Julian was a foolish male. Foolish and naive enough to trust another person with his thoughts and emotions.
“Foolish.”
Foolish? His mind scrambled for reasons as to why the other would call him such a word. Mouth opening but then chose to shut again as he simply tilted his head to the side, eyes narrowing. “Why would I deserve such a word to be directed at me?” His tone hostile as he stared at the other.
Sure, Julian was considered naive at times considering his life now revolved around caring for his sister and their home so his visit to the outside was not very often. At least, not as often as he hoped it’d be. “I have yet to do anything to deserve such a rude name directed at me,” he stated, eyes reflecting confusion.
