BIOGRAPHY

Conceived after the Fourth Shinobi War, Katsumi and her twin Tadashi were born into a world of newborn peace. Children of childhood friends Ryū and Shisui, they were part of a group of children called the golden generation: those first born after the end of war. With Sasuke revealing the truth of the Uchiha massacre, Itachi was pardoned, and the Uchiha clan’s story known. Even so, dissenters still made it known that the Uchiha were not safe.

The twins grew up in relatively-normal means. Shisui returned to his shinobi work, taking up a position first as a Hokage guard. Ryū shifted to part time, only taking major surgeries to raise her children. But around the time of their sister’s birth, a rift began to grow between the twins as their powers became more pronounced.

Jealous of her meek brother’s bloodline inheritance, Katsumi grew embittered, bullying him and antagonizing him all through their Academy years. The pair were placed together on a team alongside Higure under Hinata’s instruction. Things reached a boiling point during their chūnin exams, when the pair were rolled to fight in the final exam. The fight not only unlocked Tadashi’s Mangekyō at the feeling of the loss of their bond, but Katsumi nearly killed her brother before finally realizing the weight of her actions as he refused to hold back.

After the exams, the pair spent a good time apart – Ryū taking Katsumi to Kusunokizan with Reika, and Tadashi remaining at home with his father to train. With their time apart, each grew to accept themselves: Katsumi honing her talents for her own discretion, and Tadashi coming to terms that his power is nothing to be afraid of.

The pair became much closer after their return, reuniting to take their jōnin exams together. But when the time came to try to reach ANBU, Tadashi again hesitated, nearly missing them before deciding to join his sister and reach the final rank. Though no longer on a team together, the pair have made their peace.

PERSONALITY

Tadashi is a very reserved, polite individual, always using honorifics and a calm, quiet tone. He can lack confidence, not sure what path he wants to take in life. Though he has a distaste of violence like his parents, he’s highly skilled as a shinobi, causing a great amount of duality with him that emerges as an internal struggle. Even so, he has a highly-strategic mind and a very level head, making him a great team leader. Selfless and protective, he values life over the success of a mission, though he usually manages to maintain both. In his personal life, he’s much more laid-back and even submissive, letting his sisters walk all over him. He’s a very family-oriented boy, and has a very short tolerance for anyone saying anything negative about his family or clan, responding with a steely temper.

APPEARANCE

Tadashi inherited his mother’s white hair (including lashes and brows), and father’s dark eyes (including the Sharingan). His hair is straight as a blade, and sticks out in every direction. Some of it falls over his hitai-ate, and some is tucked under in the middle. As he gets older and it gets longer, he keeps it in a short ponytail. He has fair skin and a fairly lean build, standing at about 6'0” (1,83 m). Blood type is A. Birthday is May 1. Tadashi typically wears loose, sleeveless white tops and average dark pants. Closed-toe boots with metal plates over the toe and metal shin guards are his typical mission attire, wearing sandals when not on duty. Tadashi also wears full-length gloves, with metal forearm guards strapped over them. He has supply pouches on both legs, being ambidextrous. He also wields twin wakizashi.

TECHNIQUES

Tadashi inherited his father’s abilities, including the Sharingan Kekkei Genkai, as well as fire and yin chakra natures. His primary skills focus on swordplay, fire techniques and genjutsu. He has a fairly generous chakra pool, and almost unmatched speed and dexterity. He has two summoning contracts: one with a white tiger named Sakushi, and another with several magpies. The former is large enough to carry his weight, while the second are used primarily for communication and confusing his enemies.

PERSONALITY

Brash and stubborn, Katsumi is the complete opposite of her meek and quiet brother. She has a fair amount of pride, and will challenge anyone who dares say anything against her. Having inherited her mother’s chakra type and abilities, she is embittered, feeling that she should have had the Sharingan to give her greater power rather than it be “wasted” on her meeker sibling. This causes a great amount of animosity from her toward him during their childhoods. Keen-minded and under-handed, she’s willing to do anything to get the upper hand on her opponent. Despite her mother’s teachings, she uses her barriers for offensive attacks, which is her primary means of offense. Her temper can often get her into trouble. Even so, she is ridiculously loyal, and will do anything for a loved one.

APPEARANCE

Katsumi’s appearance is split between her parents: she has Itachi’s dark hair, but her mother’s light grey eyes. The hair has a slight wave to it – as a child, Katsumi wears it long, but she cuts it and keeps it short after reaching chūnin rank. Only once she reaches ANBU rank does she let it grow back out again. Her skin is fair in tone, with a D chest size. Having a fairly big frame for a female, she trains vigorously and is fairly heavily-muscled once reaching adulthood. She stands at about 5'4.5” (1,66 m) tall at the peak of her growth. Her blood type is B, birthday May 1. Her outfits are usually greyscale, with tight tops and shorts, as well as mesh armor and gloves. Her boots are just over her knee, with shin guards, and she wears short gloves with metal plates over the back of her hands over mesh armor sleeves. On her back pockets are twin supply pouches with both medical supplies and weaponry.

TECHNIQUES

Katsumi inherited her mother’s abilities, much to her dismay. For a long time she neglected her healing abilities, focusing on her barriers and using them offensively despite her mother’s warnings. After the chūnin exams, however, she has a large change of heart, and begins training herself differently. Embracing her healing abilities, she also hones her talents with genjutsu and poisons. Though she’s slower than her brother, she’s got amazing stamina and a good amount of raw strength, excelling in hand-to-hand combat. She, like her brother, has two summoning contracts: one with a giant spider, Mibōjin, and her underlings, and another with a colony of moths. The former can be used to poison enemies (including instilling illusions with their venom), and trap them in webs. The latter is used for genjutsu as well, the powder from their wings able to reflect light and create illusions. They’re also used for communication, and even travel with the largest.

BIOGRAPHY

Born several years after the end of the Fourth Shinobi War, Reiji is part of the golden generation, a member of the age group that includes the children of Naruto's class. Son of Ryū and Obito, he is the first boy born to the Suigin line.

Just like his mother, Reiji inherits nearly all facets of the Suigin bloodline, from appearance to kekkei genkai. He does his best to juggle the expectations of both his parents, studying hard to become a medic like his mother, but also training to use shinobi techniques like his father. Endeavoring to do both, however, leaves him often fatigued and burnt out. (Though not yet written, it's a possibility Reiji may, at some point, unlock the Sharingan. Otherwise, neither he nor his parents are aware he carries it)

Though a bit shy, Reiji took to his learning quickly, eager to follow in his parents' footsteps. With his diligent studying and friendly nature, he became a full-fledged part of the hospital staff at age fourteen, and also helped lead the way for a specialty school for those wanting to become medics, but not shinobi.

After passing his classes, Reiji was taken back to Kusunokizan for his advanced training, where he remained for four years. Upon his return, he took up a teaching position in the medic's academy, while also devoting time to helping out within the hospital proper.

For the most part, Reiji's only work is in the village, but he is occasionally sent out for missions involving aid work or ill/injured dignitaries from their allies.

PERSONALITY

When very young, Reiji was very shy and a little unsure of himself, tending to cling to his parents rather ardently. But as he was introduced to new people and began his training, he mellowed out considerably. By the time he was a typical genin's age, he was a very calm, laid-back kid with a good sense of humor like his dad (and also Obito's occasional rambunctiousness and easily-flustered nature).

APPEARANCE

A bit of a mix of his parents, Reiji possesses darker grey eyes than his mother. And all hair on his body - scalp, brows, lashes, and even body hair - is white, except for a fringe of black hair that forms a 'halo' around the outer edges of his hair: along the nape of his neck, and along his temples. He keeps his hair a bit on the shaggy side, taking to hiding behind his fringe. He's got a lithe, limber build, ending up a bit taller than average as he grows. He tends to wear mostly light grey or white clothing with black or purple accents: usually loose and casual.

TECHNIQUES

Focusing almost entirely on healing and defense like his mother, Reiji's skillset revolves mostly around the same techniques and methods. During his training in Kusunokizan, he too learns defensive-based jutsu and taijutsu: utilizing barriers, and also hand-to-hand that redirects his enemy's attacks while using little energy, and letting them burn out their own. When taken to get a summon, he deviated from getting an owl, and instead found a white fox named Suzume. His father, however, also does his best to teach him some of his family's own techniques, mostly those in the katon category. Though he excels in offensive jutsu, he ultimately ends up preferring those of his mother's bloodline, using his father's only when pressed to defend.

BIOGRAPHY

Born five years after the end of the war, Reika was part of the golden generation, those born in the new era of peace. Spoiled as the only child and raised among the children of the world’s heroes, her childhood was far less stressful than that of her mother.

Taking after Ryū to a T, Reika inherited all of her powers and appearance. Even so, she attended the Academy, a bright young student who got along with just about everyone. Social and excitable, she was a teacher’s favorite, being put on a team at graduation with Uzumaki Kei and Hyūga Hinode, Neji’s son.

However, the team was a bit…awkward to start. Hinode, not quite his father’s prodigy, was a late bloomer alongside Kei. And Reika, spoiled and a bit untested, was quickly put in her place by their sensei. Coordination between the three was slow to start, and they failed their chūnin exams the first year.

Taking time to herself, Reika decided to work alongside her mother in the hospital for a time, trying to focus more on her medical ninjutsu than taijutsu. It was during this time period that she also was taken to Kusunokizan to begin (or at least attempt) sage training like Ryū. Struggling a bit to start, the lessons she learned in the valley helped her overcome her faults, which in turn let her grow as an individual.

With some maturity under her belt, Reika went back to her team, completing their exams, and went on to help her mother with a specialty training section of the Academy to train upcoming medics.

PERSONALITY

Named after her maternal grandmother, Reika is energetic and bright. Always ready with a smile and a kind word, she is polite, but can forget her manners in her rush. She can have trouble focusing, but is only utterly serious when attending to someone wounded – be it a teammate in the field or a patient in the hospital. Notoriously stubborn, she babies her teammates terribly, as well as anyone in her family that may end up injured.

APPEARANCE

Reika takes after mostly her mother in regards to appearance. Her hair is white (including brows and lashes), and her eyes are grey. Unlike her mother, her hair is totally straight, worn in dual side pigtails for most of her life (with red ribbons). She has a fair skin tone and lithe body type, reaching an A chest size by adulthood, and a height of 5'2” (1,58 m). Her outfits are widely varied in style, but are always in red and white with mesh under armor over her lower arms and upper legs. She wears one leg pack on her right leg with medical supplies.

TECHNIQUES

In regards to abilities, Reika inherited only her mother’s affinity for healing and barrier jutsu, which she grew to be ecstatic about. Though her barriers aren’t the strongest, her healing prowess rivals her mother’s at an early age. Light on her feet and remarkable flexible, she dances around opponents and uses her shields to corral them to make her teammate’s jobs easier. As of yet, she has one summoning contract: a white weasel named Junsui.

BIOGRAPHY

Like all in her line before her, Reika was born in Kusunokizan to a young mother, never knowing her father (nor caring to). As her mother before her, and many before her, Reika remained in the mountain village, training with the resident sage until she was a teen, striking out on her own to bring healing to whomever had need.

At age twenty, she encountered a charming man – a comrade of a new friend – who, despite their clashing natures and his dozen-odd years on her, managed to win her over. After a brief and disastrous fling, the two parted on less-than-friendly terms, only for Reika to discover a pregnancy several weeks later. She put off returning home as long as she could, but found her way back to Kusunokizan in time to give birth to her own daughter.

During her time in the world, the Third Shinobi War was in full swing. Feeling a sense of eminent change, she called the child Ryū, meaning dragon, after the sage of their line with a sense of fate.

When her daughter was only four, with the war coming to a close, Kusunokizan was attacked by Iwa rebels seeking a "back door" into Hi no Kuni through the Kusunoki Sanmyaku. With the sage absent, and no shinobi in their midst, Reika broke her vow of non-violence in an effort to save her home, using barriers and her sage training to launch a counter-attack. But their numbers and skill in combat were too much.

Exhausted and injured – unable to heal herself – Reika used a barrier to hide herself and Ryū, stowing the child away in their home before going to make her final stand. But, unable to make it out the door, she was stopped by an Iwa nin, her throat cut and left to bleed out upon her own doorstep.

Though the villagers were buried en masse by Konoha ANBU sent to clean up the aftermath, Suigin – the dragon sage – dug up Reika’s body and buried it up by the temple, leaving the place unmarked save for her own memory.

PERSONALITY

Stern and haughty, Reika was a force to be reckoned with. Despite her short stature, she was stubborn with initiative, never backing down from anyone – even those far larger than herself. Strict with procedures and always organized, she was a quick-thinker and skilled improviser. She was always trying new things with her medical ninjutsu, coming up with several of her own techniques much to her teacher’s triumph. Even so, she was not without heart, caring deeply about her patients, and striving to be as useful in her craft as possible. She had her softer side, letting her guard down around the right people, especially her daughter during their short time together. The sage, Suigin, often described her as wind incarnate: often blustering with energy, and either whip-like, or gentle, able to change at a moment’s notice.

APPEARANCE

Like all Suigin women, Reika had pure-white hair and bright grey eyes. The locks were straight and soft, and usually worn up in a messy bun when working with a divided fringe. Fairly-skinned, she was a bit below average in height at about 5'4” (163 cm). Her build, unlike her daughter’s, was lithe and willowy. Her usual attire was white and red – typically yukata, white with crimson trimmings. She wore red geta, and carried supplies in a pouch slung over one shoulder across to her other hip.

TECHNIQUES

Reika’s chakra nature, like all of her line, was yin and yang, making her perfectly suited for healing. Her chakra pool was quite substantial, and could be accentuated with her sage state, which not only gave her additional chakra, but also quickened her healing abilities. While in her sage state, she could passively gather nature chakra, though not overly-quickly. In addition to medical ninjutsu, she specialized in small, powerful barriers, which came in three basic types: one that reflected, one that vaporized, and one that bent light to render people or objects unseen. They took a great deal of chakra, and required a sage state to be used for more than a minute or so. At their largest, they could shield anywhere from twenty people (the first two types) to five people (the final type). The barriers could be shaped with her will, and could be moved independently of her body to shield others, or even be used to manipulate people or objects beyond her reach (such as pushing someone out of the way). She had a summoning contract with a male Kōri no Mori owl known as Tsurara.

TRIVIA

Reika’s clan name means mercury (or more specifically, quicksilver), and is a reference to her clan’s eye color and her teacher. It’s also a bit of an irony, given that quicksilver is poisonous, and yet her clan specializes in healing.

BIOGRAPHY

Ryū was born in a village in mountainous northeast Hi no Kuni known as Kusunokizan, wherein her clan was based. The clan, with the surname Suigin, had always been focused around medical ninjutsu and defensive barriers: a peaceful clan with no shinobi training. When the village was attacked when Ryū was only four by Iwa rebels, she remained the only survivor, found later by Hi no Kuni ANBU cleaning up the bodies.

Taken to Konoha, she was deemed unfit for adoption due to her kekkei genkai (the village wanting to keep her isolated as a ‘valuable resource’). When it came time to join the Academy, she refused, insisting to be trained solely at the hospital to hone her medical ninjutsu. The council relented, giving her private lessons for the basics in her village-assigned quarters when not training under other medics.

By age twelve, she was certified as a full-fledged medic after completing the necessary exams. Joining the staff full-time, she worked diligently to continue her work and further her training as she was able.

When Tsunade returned to Konoha, the Sannin admitted to recognizing Ryū as the daughter of someone she knew briefly before the girl’s birth. Given a new interest in her roots, Ryū put in a request to revisit her home village, wanting closure about her past. When she arrived, she found the ruins of her village, but also the singular dragon sage, Suigin, that had called the mountains home for centuries, and was the source of her line’s prestige. Desperate to further her training and learn more about her past, she decided to stay in the ruins of her home to receive the training she would have had, had the village never been destroyed…including her sennin state, barriers, and powerful medical ninjutsu.

She remained in Kusunokizan for nearly three years, returning shortly before Naruto when her teacher heard from the other sage, Gamabunta, that great change was coming over the land. Feeling she would be needed, she decided to return to the village to lend aid however she could. With fully-mastered medical ninjutsu and sage arts, she is a force to be reckoned with, comparable to Tsunade with her healing prowess, and capable of mighty defense with her barriers. Though she has no combat training, she can hold off most shinobi with her defensive techniques, never resorting to violence, but able to hold her own nonetheless.

PERSONALITY

Ryū is a rather muted individual, usually presenting as shy, quiet, and polite. She always uses honorifics unless previously asked not to, or if she has a very close, personal relationship where they are not needed. Caring and maternal, she abhors violence and confrontation, playing peacekeeper in volatile situations. She can be stubborn, especially when defending her beliefs and morals. Though she is usually level-headed, certain topics or situations can get a rise out of her temper, which is steely and cold (though it can be more fiery if she is physically confronted, or during other personal circumstances). If a loved one or innocent is threatened, she will not hesitate to face a foe to do what she can to protect them.

APPEARANCE

Ryū has white, wavy hair that falls to her mid-back (she usually wears it up in a high tail with framing locks around her cheeks and a tapered fringe while working - otherwise, it’s worn down), fair skin, and grey eyes. Her body shape is hourglass, with a C-/D chest. She stands at approximately 170 cm. Blood type is A. Birthday is October 15. She usually wears clothes in greyscale colors, with separate sleeves and a coat of her own design, alongside standard dark shirts and pants. A small pack is attached to her right leg, and carries medical supplies. She wears open-toed/open-heeled dark-grey boots that reach just below her knee. After completing her sage training and returning to Konoha, she had a tattoo of her clan crest put on her left shoulder blade, in order to always take a piece of home with her wherever she goes. It's simple black ink, about the size of a deck of playing cards.

VERSES

White Hands of Healing

Main canon verse. Leaving Ryū a virtual stranger to any other characters, this verse sees her as a blank slate for interactions and forming new bonds with muses. In this verse she's in the same age group as Itachi by default, but it can be adjusted as necessary. An orphan from the third shinobi war, she's taken back to Konoha and raised there to become a medic to make use of her bloodline. She eventually becomes a top-tier healer and sage after learning under her family's teacher, and otherwise lives out her days in Konoha. She has an optional child in this verse, Reika II, for next gen interactions.

Into the Abyss

Secondary canon verse. When Ryū and Obito have a chance meeting during the timeskip, it leads to a whirlwind romance that - though shallow at first - soon grows in both affection and danger. After the war, Obito survives, and after their share of struggles, they have a family of their own: a son, Reiji. But as happy and loving as the family is, the stigma against Obito remains... Ryū is three years younger than Obito in this verse.

What Remains

Secondary canon verse. Jiraiya, returning after the Kyūbi's rampage, discovers his daughter Ryū in Konoha. Deciding to stay, he takes her in and fulfills his role as Naruto's godfather, raising the pair of them as his own. Ryū later befriends Uchiha Itachi, the pair becoming childhood sweethearts. When Itachi later becomes Hokage as a peace deal with Konoha, the pair decide to get married and have a daughter, Usagi. Ryū is Itachi's age in this verse.

Ryū no Ryokan

Secondary canon verse. Ryū returns to her home village after the fourth war, and with Konoha's help, repairs the village and turns it into a mountain retreat for both wealthy guests and long-term patients from any land. She runs it alongside her master Suigin, finding giving her home new purpose and returning at last. Ryū is 22+ in this verse, but it can be adjusted.

Wild Child

Secondary canon verse. Ryū, the last survivor of Kusunokizan, isn't rescued by Konoha, and instead is raised by the dragon sage Suigin. Practically feral, she lives more as a dragon than a human up in the mountain peaks. Age can vary.

A Life Anew

Secondary canon verse. Ryū is taken from Konoha by her uncle, Ao, wanting to protect her from the world of shinobi. But the pair are later discovered by Jiraiya. Despite their bad blood, the men decide to use their common concern for Ryū to help raise her together outside Konoha. Ryū is Itachi's age in this verse.

A Light Amongst Shadows

Secondary canon verse. In this verse Ryū is the same age as Shisui (headcanoned as eight years older than Naruto). Mostly follows canon up to 699 - Ryū is found by Uchiha Manami, Shisui's mother, and the two children grow up as friends. After his apparent suicide, and later the massacre of the clan, Ryū steps up and helps raise Sasuke. She's lightly involved in other canon matters, and when Shisui is revealed to be alive after the war, they bond again and eventually marry and have a family. But not everyone is happy more Uchiha are alive...

A modern AU typically revolving around high school or college years. Kept vague for plotting! Age can vary.

Catch 'Em All

Pokémon verse. Ryū, having been raised by Hiruzen (Mr. Fuji) in Lavender Town, helps him take care of orphaned pokémon. But when the threat of Team Rocket looms, he has her take all of them to Fuchsia to be released into the Safari Zone reserve out of their reach. Armed only with her bonded pokémon, a shiny Dratini, she makes the journey alone, eventually becoming part of the staff and helping manage the park and protect its pokémon. Her team eventually consists of her Dragonair, Chansey, Charizard, Kingdra, Gyrados, and Rapidash. Age can vary.

Divine Light

Fantasy verse - based on original lore but can be adapted for more general fantasy threads. Ryū is a Lux el'ven, or light elf: one of the last of her kind after the wars. Able to heal, make barriers, and create portals in time, she wants to help rebuild the world of the el'ven and reforge the Elemental Council of the twelve elements to solidify peace. Age can vary.

Healing Waters and Scorching Flames

Avatar the Last Airbender verse. Ryū is a waterbender from the South Pole, from a small, isolated clan that focuses on healing. Age can vary.

Like Magic

Harry Potter verse. Ryū, a Hufflepuff, dreams of one day being a Healer like her mother was. Age can vary.

To Rule Them All

Royalty / Medieval verse. Ryū is the princess of a matrilineal line in the kingdom of Kusunokizan. A neutral state, there's pressures mounting from neighboring kingdoms to finally choose a side. Age can vary.

A modern monster verse based on original lore, but can be adapted for other verses. Ryū's default in this verse is a hybrid of snowy owl harpy and succubus, but I've also written her as a siren and a mermaid! Age can vary.
