aspen should, by all means, be overjoyed. surrounded by beautiful people, beautiful music and an atmosphere of fun – no parents to push her down. however, the one face that wasn’t recognizable amidst the sea of her peers was the one face she found herself longing to see. sofia. while she’d accepted her invitation to the party, aspen had, by no means expected her to show up, hoped yes, believed no. yet, she felt her stomach sink a little lower each time she found a guest at the door who wasn’t her new found – she didn’t think friend was the right word, but acquaintance didn’t quite do what they had justice either - companion. weaving her way through the crowd of her friends aspen found one of the many shots she’d laid out for everyone and downed hers almost instantaneously, before heading off upstairs, seating herself on her top step to observe as the world carried on down below her.
