The park was supposed to be a good place for her. The park was always a good place to go when everything got too much for her at work. When the time had come for her shift to end today she’d breathed a deep sigh of relief. Finally she was free from the chiming bell on the door and the blathering customers that only wanted things that ‘looked pretty’ and got huffy with her if she told them they didn’t have a certain flower they liked in stock.
She’d hoped that the park would be as safe for her as it usually was, but it seemed like luck wasn’t on her side. Again.
Loud thrumming music hummed over the children squealing in delight, blared over the happy couples, and made her whole body feel like it was trembling uncomfortably. Her usual response to this sort of thing, of course, was to simply get up and leave, maybe transform and spend some time at her river instead, but there was something about the volume and the reverberations of the bass music that just had her on edge and made her feel gross.
So, with her hands held over her ears to try and curb the feeling, she sought out the source of the terrible music. Eventually, she did. The bass was all the stronger as she neared the dancing boy, her very bones seeming to tremble in displeasure.
“Excuse me!” She wasn’t sure if she shouted or not, her ears were hurting, her skin was gross her bones were in pain, she hated noise overload. “Could you please turn the music down a bit?! It’s starting to hurt people’s ears!”
