The day had been extremely boring with no work or outings scheduled. Normally, Ivy enjoyed staying indoors and relaxing - reading a book while taking a bubble bath was the preferred choice of entertainment - but today she decided to try something different. It had begun to cool down recently and wasn’t as hot, in fact, today was a beautiful day. After eating her lunch at home, Ivy decided to head out and visit a nearby museum.
When she moved to Korea, she had made note of it’s presence and told herself she would visit it once she got settled in but as the days kept coming and going, she ended up never actually doing so. Of course today seemed like the perfect day to finally check it out. As a child, she loved going to the museum and seeing pieces of history and art and learning about things she couldn’t even imagine occurring. Now that she was an adult, she had an appreciation for how quiet and personal the experience was.
She came upon an art piece she wanted to see, it wasn’t one she had seen before and was ready to read all about it and examine it. Unfortunately, there was already someone standing in front of the piece and blocking the view. Trying not to be rude and rush the person who was already taking a look, she decided to stand nearby and wait for them to finish. It wasn’t a big deal to her, she didn’t mind re-reading the information on the piece next to it but even after doing so, the person still remained.
After waiting some time, she finally decided to walk up to the person and say something. “Excuse me,” she asked, “Can you move over a little so I can see? You’re blocking my view.” Her tone was apologetic and her Korean was bit broken. Ivy was still new to the country after all and despite studying hard, she still was not the most fluent. Nerves washed over her as she prayed she didn’t come across, or sound, rude and she began to twiddle her thumbs.
