Footsteps echoed through the empty alleyway, the moonlight reflecting into puddles on the ground. While the rest of the city slept, Jeonghan was just starting his day. As he exited at the other end of the alley, he glanced around to be sure no one was following him. He’d come to learn the back roads of this city as they became second nature to him, he wondered how long it would be before they would have to relocate the headquarters this time.
His line of business wasn’t quite legal, so having to stay hidden in one location for a prolonged period of time was a hard task to upkeep. It had only become slightly easier recently, creating ties with enemy. Jeonghan usually had the hardest time keeping the police off the traces of his family’s “business”. After moving to their current location, Jeonghan’s stress of carefully dissipating the traces of their business deals lessened after meeting who seemed to be a blessing in disguise.
Hong Jisoo. He was a cop, a man of the law, but for a guy with such an innocent and sweet looking face, he was quite the opposite. When Jeonghan met him in an encounter that probably would have put an end to his family’s dirty business, Jisoo seemed to have the opposite idea of locking Jeonghan away for life. Now, Jisoo was a good friend of the family even, and beyond that, he was very close with Jeonghan.
Jeonghan was very grateful that Jisoo was playing bad cop; it made things much easier for him. Hiding trails, certain encounters, everything was aided by Jisoo and his authority. Thanks to Jisoo’s innocent appearance, no one had suspected him to play dirty.
Jeonghan’s lips curled into a smirk at the thought of Jisoo. He hadn’t seen him in a few days, he wasn’t really sure when the other would stop by to help with another deal. Jeonghan had a big deal coming up that put him under a lot of pressure to succeed by his father. He had mentioned this to the cop, so he hoped to see him soon within the next week. Not only that, but Jisoo was nice to look at.
Finally making his way to the harbor, Jeonghan disappeared into the sea of warehouses finding the one tucked away secretly. He found the door, knocking only once before a slit opened and he was met with alert eyes. Jeonghan muttered a phrase quietly, the door opening completely only a moment after.
Jeonghan was met by a wall of cool air as he walked through the dimly lit hall to the main area of the warehouse. He let out a small breath as he noticed his father’s two main men working with their product, but no father in site. He assumed he would be running late today. Bowing politely to the two, he turned to the door that led to his office. He pulled out his keys to unlock the door until he noticed the knob turning to open. Tilting his head in confusion as he last remembered having locked the door before leaving the previous day, he walked in only to be met by the person he had been thinking about sitting in his chair. Closing the door behind him, his expression softened, lips forming into a small smile, “What a surprise. Did you come here early to surprise me?”
